Serena Williams believes she still has room to improve

Williams insists her best is yet to come

Looking to complete her calendar Grand Slam, and equal Steffi Graf’s record of 22 Grand Slam titles, Serena Williams has a truckload of confidence heading into the US Open and believes that although her mental game seems to be at its peak, there is more room for improvement in her tennis, as reported by the Times of India:

"I'm playing some of my best mental tennis. My actual tennis I think I could play a lot better," Williams said. "That's really exciting going into 2016."

When questioned about completing the calendar Grand Slam, Serena insisted that she wasn’t thinking much about it, and revealed her pride at achieving the Serena Slam-holding all 4 slams at once- twice in her remarkable career, having achieved the first one after winning the Australian Open in 2003:

"I was really excited to achieve that Serena Slam," Williams said. "It was really important for me to do that. Just holding all four trophies at the same time, two times in one career, I'm not sure how many times that has been done. That really means a lot."

Will be a good opportunity to play in hard courts ahead of US Open: Williams

The 33-year-old American, who dropped out of the Swedish Open after winning Wimbledon courtesy of an elbow injury, said that she was fine now:

"I feel okay," she said. "I always have a little nerves and a little trepidation.”

"I feel okay about my game. I'm always looking to improve. I'm never too comfortable. That's when I think you are susceptible to losing."

As a preparation for Flushing Meadows, Serena will be competing at the WTA Rogers Cup in Toronto, a tournament which she won in 2011 and 2013.

"I haven't played on the hardcourt in a while," Williams said. "It will be a good opportunity to get some matches under me before the US Open."
