Virender Sehwag claims Anil Kumble as the best Indian captain

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag turned 38 today and the explosive batsman was flooded with wishes on social media. The right-hand batsman thanked all his fans who wished him over Twitter and also had special messages to some of his former teammates.

However, his message to former Indian captain and current coach, Anil Kumble, caught everyone's eyes. "In my view, you were the best captain of the Indian team and probably the best coach," said Sehwag in a twitter message to the Team India head coach.

He also credited Kumble for the triple century that he scored against South Africa in Chennai in March 2008. Kumble was the captain of the Test team then.

Navjot Singh Sidhu might be offered deputy CM position 

Former Indian cricketer, Navjot Singh Sidhu is reported to have been offered the position of deputy CM position by the Congress party if he decides to join hands with them in the upcoming Punjab assembly elections.

Sidhu had parted ways with the BJP in order to launch his own party, Awaaz-e-Punjab, earlier this year.

However, former chief minister Amarinder Singh has denied any such move and said that the Congress party was looking to join hands with Sidhu's party, it wasn't looking at the option of offering him the post of deputy CM in case of victory.

Delhi bowled out for 90; Gambhir out for a duck


The Karnataka bowlers wrecked havoc on the Delhi batsman at the Eden Gardens uring the third round of Ranji Trophy matches, dismissing them for a paltry 90 on Day One.

Gautam Gambhir, who made a comeback to the Indian team in the Indore Test, was dismissed for a duck.

PM Narendra Modi invited for the first Test between India and England in Rajkot

The Saurashtra Cricket Association has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first Test match between India and England in Rajkot that is scheduled to start on 9th of November. The city will be hosting its first ever Test match.

"The SCA is going to host its first-ever Test match next month and it's indeed a matter of pride for all cricket lovers of this region," SCA's media manager Himanshu Shah was quoted as saying by NDTV on Wednesday.

"The SCA and its governing body have cordially invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the first Test match," added Shah.

Vizag ODI gets the go-ahead


A day after reports emerged that the 5th India-New Zealand ODI could be moved out of Vizag, a new development has risen where the city will now play host to the game, to be held on the 29th of October.

"There never was a problem about staging the ODI but after the seeing the pattern of matches played recently we wanted to make sure that we don't cut a sorry figure.Hence, we had asked the BCCI to send a curator to inspect the pitch and certify it. We didn't want to leave anything to chance as it's a prestigious match. The ACA has always done its utmost to give the best facilities and we are not going to let our guard down," the secretary of the association Dr G Gangaraju said.

Paul Adams says Australians are under pressure ahead of the Test series against South Africa

Former South African spin bowler Paul Adams has said that the Australians will be under pressure going into the Test series against the South Africans. "The pressure is all on them," Adams told Supersport.com. The Australians were whitewashed 5-0 by the Proteas during the ODI series earlier this month. 

"Understandably their bowling attack will change as they are trying to get certain players fit to play so Australia is the team under pressure, especially on home soil," added Adams.

Australia are scheduled to play South Africa in the first Test on 3rd November.
