Australia to play a T20I a day before the first Border Gavaskar Test against India next year

Ahead of the first Border-Gavaskar Test next year in February, the visiting Australian side could field two separate sides in two different formats of the game within the space of 24 hours.

The opening Test of the series will be played at the Gahunje Stadium in Pune from the 23rd of February, but on the 22nd, they have a home T20I scheduled against Sri Lanka at Adelaide.

This is the second time that such a scenario will emerge in Australian cricket. In 2014 as well, they were involved in a Test match versus Pakistan at Abu Dhabi which ended on the 3rd of November and a couple of days later on the 5th of November, a T20I was to be played at Adelaide.

Expectedly, none of the players who played the Test played in that T20I couple of days later.

Marsh unlucky to be stuck down by injuries: Justin Langer

Former Australia opener Justin Langer has said that Shaun Marsh is very unfortunate to have suffered frequent injuries during the course of his career and hoped for him to get fit in time for the first Test in Perth against South Africa on the 3rd of November.

"I'm sure the medical staff are doing everything possible to get him up for the Shield game, so he can put his name up for the Test match.

"He's just having such bad luck with these injuries. We saw just before he did it here, he was playing beautifully.

"He's in career-best form. That's the real downside from his point of view. I just hope his body can hold up so he's right to play the Shield match then the Test matches," Langer said.

Mitchell Johnson feels Mitchell Starc is not too amused with his freak injury

Former Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has said that pacer Mitchell Starc was not too happy with his home country's officials after he suffered a huge leg gash when he slid into a metal base on a set of stumps while fielding in Sydney in September.

"He wasn't too pleased about it.You wouldn't be as a player. His natural reaction was disappointment that it should not have happened, especially at a professional level.

"Fortunately enough there wasn't any permanent damage and he'll be able to get out there and perform. If it was the other way around you just wonder who is going to take responsibility for that kind of thing," Johnson said.
