Mahabali Shera becomes first Indian wrestler to sign for TNA

Total Non-Stop Action, and broadcaster Sony Six have announced the signing of their first ever Indian wrestler, Mahabali Shera. He will be part of the global roster of the TNA brand.

The announcement comes at the end of a year long talent search to find an Indian wrestler to compete in TNA, which was initiated when Kurt Angle visited India in 2013. The signing of Shera was presented to the media by Angle, at an event in Chandigarh, who also welcomed the Indian youngster to the locker room. The 24 year old will be a part of TNA’s Monday Night Impact programming to increase the popularity of the brand in India.

"TNA is his dream and he has the capability to do it. It does not have to be a one-trip party for him. He can be a worldwide star," Angle said. "Mahabali Shera is a great athlete who has showcased tremendous potential and skill, which strengthens my belief that he has what it takes to become a champion," he further added.

When asked about what his feelings were, Shera said that his dream had been realised. He said, "I am proud that a Punjabi from India has been selected. TNA provides a platform for action fights, which has no parallel anywhere else in the world. I have been training hard, I train for six hours daily and hit the gymnasium for four hours." He also added that "it was my dream as I wanted to reach this stage one day".
