Asian Games 2014: India assured of two wushu medals

Incheon, Sep 22 (IANS) Wushu athletes Narender Grewal and Yumnam Sanathoi Devi assured India of two more Asian Games medals after winning their respective men's and women's quarter-finals at the Ganghwa Dolmens Gymnasium here Monday.

In the men's Sanda -60 kg quarters, World No.9 Grewal defeated Abdullah of Pakistan 2-0 to enter the medal round. He will face Philippines' World No.3 Jean Claude Saclag in the semi-final Tuesday.

In the women's quarter-final, Sanathoi downed Mongolia's Amgalanjargal Sangidorj 2-0 to confirm at least a bronze in the Sanda -52 kg category.

World No.5 Sanathoi will take on China's Luan Zhang in the semi-final Tuesday.

In men's Sanda -75 kg quarter-final, Rajani Deori lost to Ngo van Sy 0-2 while Lama Sajan finished 13th and tied ninth in nangun and nanquan competitions, respectively.

Lama scored 7.95 points out of 10 in nangun to take 13th. The 22-year-old bagged 4.60 points for quality of management, 2.40 for overall performance and 0.95 for degree of difficulty to gather 7.95 points.

In nanquan, he scored 9.06 points to share ninth with Japan's Koki Nakata. He got 4.80 points for quality of management, 2.51 for overall performance and 1.75 for degree of difficulty to gather 9.06 points.
