A few interesting observations from this week's episode of SmackDown Live (September 10)

From The Undertaker putting Sami Zayn down with a chokeslam to Erick Rowan obliterating Roman Reigns in a heated brawl, this week's edition of WWE SmackDown Live (10th September 2019) featured a lot of contrasting moments.

What I loved about last night's episode was that the writers decided to take risks when it came to booking decisions throughout the show. As a result, these decisions ended up being controversial amongst fans. But last night's show was entertaining from start to finish, and the Blue brand could be a lot better if it decided to experiment with their shows every week.

Here are a few interesting observations from this week's edition of SmackDown Live:

#3 Has the Shane McMahon-Kevin Owens feud overstayed its welcome on the Blue brand?

Undoubtedly, last night's King of the Ring slot featuring Chad Gable became a lot more interesting when Shane McMahon decided to announce himself as Elias' replacement for the KOTR Semi-Finals contest.

It is frustrating to see that happen, but what more can you expect from a character whose primary motivation is to make unpopular, self-centered decisions on the roster?

More than that, Kevin Owens' arc as the special guest referee for their match introduced another conflict, which raised the bar even higher.

But after it was all said and done, Shane McMahon decided to vent out his frustrations on Kevin Owens by firing him from the company itself!

While it does encourage you to tune in for SmackDown Live next week, this angle did very little in terms of providing better scope for Clash of Champions this Sunday.

On top of that, it feels as if the Owens-McMahon angle remained cold for the past several weeks, so much so, that last night's events between the two felt as if their rivalry was being revived for some reason.

Has Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens overstayed its welcome, or can the Creative add something new to this plot in the next few weeks?

#2 The Roman Reigns-Erick Rowan brawl elevated their buildup to Clash of Champions 2019

Roman Reigns will be out for payback at WWE Clash of Champions when he goes one-on-one with the monstrous Erick Rowan in a No Disqualification Match.

But what I loved about last night's SmackDown Live episode was the creative inclusion of props in multiple segments throughout the night.

For some reason, last week's reveal that confirmed Erick Rowan as Roman Reigns' mysterious attacker did not work as well fans were hoping it would.

But Erick Rowan's outburst during last night's show was quite interesting to watch since Rowan and Reigns had the liberty to execute some creatively unique spots at the same time.

Using the stage camera as a weapon as well as throwing a 'member of the audience' at a bunch of officials and Roman Reigns just added more stakes to a feud that had seemingly passed its potential last week.

Are you excited to see Erick Rowan and Roman Reigns battling it out in a No Disqualification match at this Sunday's Clash of Champions PPV?

#1 The Undertaker's appearance was a missed opportunity for several reasons

It is widely believed that every The Undertaker appearance is a must-watch scenario for WWE fans all across the globe.

After all, the mind-boggling theatrics and The Deadman's unique aura always leave us with goosebumps in the end.

But last night, it seemed as if The Undertaker's appearance was primarily booked to increase ticket sales without any concrete plan in mind. As entertaining it was to see The Deadman and Sami Zayn having a brief encounter at the beginning of the episode, one can't help but feel like WWE could have done more in this case.

The Fiend did not attack either of the two legends that appeared on both main roster shows this week (Stone Cold Steve Austin & The Undertaker).

Even if the above-missed opportunity was all part of advertised speculation, there were a lot of ways the writers could have teased The Undertaker's future rivalries.

But on the positive side of things, at least Sami Zayn got a chance to put on some entertaining shenanigans in front of the most enigmatic characters in WWE History!
