3 reasons why Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar II will not be a bust

If the rumours are true we have an incredible fight on our hands!

Ever since it was announced that the Mayor of Suplex City was going to be the cover star of WWE 2K17 and Bill Goldberg was revealed as a pre-order bonus, there have been rumblings as to whether we could see the two behemoths tangle once again inside a WWE ring.

As alluring as it might be to pit two of the most intimidating forces in the history of professional wrestling in the virtual world, more than subtle hints have been dropped by the men in question themselves that they wouldn’t mind strangling each other in the squared circle if the opportunity presented itself.

Interestingly enough, a major development regarding this story broke out yesterday that Bill Goldberg’s WWE return is set in stone and a potential Goldberg vs Lesnar match is imminent and could happen as soon as Survivor Series to be held on 20th November.

Now this won’t be the first time we will see these two individuals slugging it out but this time, this could definitely be something special provided WWE plays their cards right. Here are 3 reasons why I think Goldberg vs Lesnar II will not be a bust.

#3 A greater incentive to deliver

Sentiments will change the second time around

The first encounter between the two was a debacle and for a good reason. Fans were largely disinterested and incensed after news leaked days prior to the pay per view that both the competitors were on their way out. Their anger was compounded by the fact that both Goldberg and Lesnar didn’t even pretend to care nor did they put in a speck of effort.

This time, however, it could be a little different. Goldberg has mentioned time and time again that one of his biggest incentives to lace up a pair of boots is to show his son what he ‘used to do’.

If not for anything else, Goldberg will try more than his best to put on a show for his little one. Both individuals have been largely vocal about wanting to clash against each other inside a squared circle and there’s no reason for a lack of desire.

Besides, as long as Brock Lesnar gets paid handsomely he will do just about anything possible inside the 20 X 20 ring and do it believably which leaves the fans wanting more.

#2 The draw and the hype

Abscene makes the fans' hearts fonder

As already mentioned, the initial encounter between these two powerhouses was a massive bust and is counted as one of the, if not the, worst Wrestlemania matches of all time. There’s a reason, however, to believe that there is a renewed interest and buzz regarding a potential feud.

Brock Lesnar has gone on to achieve an elevated mainstream status after his transition into the world of Mixed Martial Arts after competing in Ultimate Fighting Championship, winning the promotion’s heavyweight championship. In the process, he has become a marquee attraction since his return to the WWE back in 2012.

Any Brock Lesnar appearance, live TV or PPV, is a must-see and can’t miss.On the other hand, Goldberg’s decade-plus absence from WWE TV has made fans hungry to see him come back. His return alone will be very successful and profitable for the company.

Simply put, the interest level and hype surrounding this potentially very likely feud could be at its highest and there’s no reason to not strike while the iron is hot.

#1 Scope for better story-telling

Heyman will certainly have something to say about the match up!

A standard match involving two super-heavyweights follows a familiar pattern – both are big and strong, one is an irresistible force, other is an immovable object and whole nine yards. WWE is presented with an opportunity to deviate from this formulaic pattern and create a compelling story. They can go several different directions with this

It could be about Goldberg wanting to have another crack at Brock Lesnar, who has been the most dangerous man in professional wrestling ever since his return 4 years ago. It could also be about Brock Lesnar wanting to avenge his loss from 12 years back and cement himself as the most unrivalled, supreme and inimitable force in WWE history.

The possibilities are endless if they cared to venture. Furthermore, impeccable oratory of Paul Heyman would be just as riveting, engaging and captivating as the visual spectacle inside the ring.

If everything goes according to the plan and all the stars align, round 2 of Goldberg vs Lesnar will increase overall viewership of the product and could fetch them a lot more than just a few potential WWE Network subscriptions. This match WILL deliver.
