4 things that the WWE could change with the brand split

Just a few days ago, WWE announced that it’s SmackDown brand will be going live July 19th 2016 onwards with a seperate roster. In other words, we’re going to see a brand split once again, and about time too. The wealth of talent WWE has and will have sooner or later when wrestlers from the NXT roster make their way into one of the two main rosters will have to be “drafted” evenly.

But how and where they’ll be drafted will have to be worked out.

We’re going to see some aspects of the good old days of the Ruthless Aggression Era too. You have to admit that WWE has been a little boring for a while now. It’s not exciting as it was during the Ruthless Aggression Era and the Attitude Era. Perhaps the brand split will spice things up.

Seperate rosters for each brand would mean more opportunities for wrestlers that deserve them (or those who don’t too, considering who the current “Guy” is), better, more and varied storylines, and more meaningful wrestling on SmackDown, as opposed to just being a secondary show to RAW.

The days of the brand split was very enjoyable and saw better and more meaningful storylines and better matches. Here then are 4 things that WWE should bring back with the brand split.

#1 Seperate titles for each brand.

Remember when each brand had it’s own champion? The WWE Worldheavyweight Championship should be split between the two brands and make way for two main champions for each roster. Having a main guy on each roster will give them equal credibility and both brands will be enjoyable to watch as we will see title defenses on both.

This is actually likely to happen as the champion having to make appearences on both shows and wrestling twice within 24 hours is not an easy task.

Even the tag team titles should be split, which again will make both brands interesting. The Intercontinental and United States Championship titles should be divided between the two brands too.

#2 Seperate Pay Per Views

Move PPVs are never a bad thing

Keeping in tune with the brand-split, seperate PPVs for both brands will breathe new life into PPVs and spare us repetitive and continous feuds. Seperate PPVs only make sense as feuds will now have better build-ups and we won’t have to see the same feuds and matches every month.

The WWE can continue the big four PPVs- Wrestlemania, Summerslam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble, where wrestlers from both brands will features. This way, we will not have to see the same stuff over and over again and the big four PPVs will become even more interesting if they feature wrestlers from two seperate brands.

#3 Bragging Rights

Bragging Rights has the potential to be a rollicking PPV if booked correctly

Speaking of wrestlers from two seperate brands, given how talented the entire roster is, Bragging Rights PPVs are going to be amazing. Wrestlers from both rosters fighting for their respective brands’ honour will be a treat to watch. Champion vs Champion mathes, tag-team matches, singles matches featuring long time rivals and friends-turned enemies. How exicitng does this sound?!

It will also allow creative to weave inter brand feuds which will culminate into a slobber-knocker at one of the big four PPVs or at Bragging Rights. Plus, there’ll be more banter and competiton between wrestlers from the two brands in general and make it look even more competitive.

#4 Hardcore and Cruiserweight titles (and another women’s title as well)

Could there be 2 Women’s Titles?

It does look like the WWE is gradually making it’s way out of the PG era. The Asylum match is one big sign that it’s going to happen. The last time we saw thumbtacks was way back in 2004 at Backlash, when Randy Orton faced Mick Foley in a No Holds Barred Match for the Intercontinental Title. A Hardcore title would possibly be an excellent addition and the matches are bound to be awesome.

The Cruiserweight title needs to make a comeback too. It might just happen given how the Cruiserweight Classic is going to happen soon. It will give cruiserweights the recognition they deserve and we will see fewer Rusev vs Kalisto like squash matches.

Another women’s title is something the current roster really deserves. There is a lot of talent on the current roster that deserve a lot more and there’s going to be promotions from NXT. Women’s wrestling has reached a whole new level now and two main titles for the female Superstars is only going to make things better.
