5 Backstage personnel in the WWE that you should know about

Ranjin Singh has a bigger role than what meets the eye

WWE is not only about the performers that work inside the squared circle as it also involves the sweat and blood of many others that we barely know about. While it's the wrestlers that get the limelight, fame, and all the other perks, there are workers in the backstage that do their work perfectly to bring up the product that we enjoy, week in and week out.

Without these unsung heroes, the wrestlers that we see on television would be incomplete and the WWE product would have gaping holes in it. And this is why we've decided to list out some of the notable backstage personnel in WWE that you probably did not know about.

1- Sara Amato

The woman behind the success

The Women’s wrestling in NXT is something that received truckloads of appreciation and Sara Amato is one of the biggest reasons behind this. She had a great wrestling career that spanned for more than a decade. During her active years, Sara wrestled all over the world and worked with some notable promotions that include Shimmer, Chikara, and Ring of Honor.

In 2012, she joined WWE as an NXT trainer and became the first ever female trainer in the developmental territory. She had a huge hand in the rise of names like Sasha Banks, Bayley, Charlotte, Becky Lynch and many others and as a result, she got promoted as the NXT assistant coach when Bill DeMott resigned.

2- Dewey Foley

Mick and Dewey

Dewey Foley is a second generation name that has joined the ranks of WWE. Unlike the path that his father Mick Foley took, Dewey decided to start his WWE career backstage. Dewey was hired on the basis of the creative writing samples that he had posted online. Though Mick was a factor in the process of his hiring, it was rumored that Triple H enjoyed Dewey’s writing.

He is currently working as a creative writing assistant in the WWE creative team and you can also see glimpses of Dewey thanks to the new show about the Foleys that WWE Network airs.

3- Jimmy Jacobs

Jacobs’ in-ring career seems to be over

Fans of Independent Wrestling need no introduction to Jimmy Jacobs. The 32-year old Jacobs made his wrestling debut back in 1999 and went on to wrestle for numerous promotions including Ring of Honor and Combat Zone Wrestling. During his time in the independent scene, Jacobs was known for his association with Tyler Black or Seth Rollins as we know him today.

Jacobs did wrestle in WWE back in 2005, when he won a match against Eddie Guerrero and contested in some matches on Velocity. But the reason why Jacobs is on this list is because of the current position that he holds in the company. He is currently a writer in the creative team and though Jacobs has not officially retired, the chances of him working matches in WWE ar quite low.

4- Seth Petruzelli

From the Octagon to the performance center

Seth Petruzelli is a name that most MMA fans would recognize. He is a veteran in the MMA business with a total of 22 fights under his belt from which he’s won 14. And the impressive part is, 12 of these 14 wins came via knockout. The former UFC, WEC, Bellator and BAMMA star decided to join WWE after his retirement.

He inked the deal with WWE back in 2015 and is currently working as the striking coach at the WWE performance center. Petruzelli was hired by WWE with the intention of teaching the upcoming stars better technique and realistic moves. He has been getting some good response as well, due to his expertise and training.

5- Ranjin Singh

The man behind everything and The Great Khali

The WWE fans might remember Ranjin Singh as the manager of The Great Khali, but not many know that he is the lead writer of WWE. Ranjin Singh made his debut in the WWE as the on-screen heel manager that we know him as. After spending almost four years in the role, the real-life Dave Kapoor decided to join the creative team of the WWE.

He started out as the lead writer for SmackDown and as of last year, was the head writer of both SmackDown and Raw. Just in case you were wondering who you should complain about for having boring shows, Ranjin Singh is one of the names.
