5 dream bookings for Jeff Hardy when he returns to WWE

Who should Jeff Hardy face upon his WWE return

Jeff Hardy left the WWE in 2009 and has not looked back since. He has had a long and successful stint with TNA and along with his brother “Broken” Matt Hardy are the crown jewel of the wrestling promotion.

The Final Deletion segment that Jeff and Matt contested in the Hardy household has received critical acclaim and was so amazing that the WWE copied it with a similar segment of their own including The Wyatt Family.

Ever since Jeff’s departure from the WWE in 2009, the fans have been waiting for the return of ‘The Rainbow Haired Warrior”. Recently in an interview, Hardy revealed that it was not goodbye from the WWE and indeed a return could be possible. His TNA contract expires in February 2017 and it remains to be seen what happens after that.

For now, we can only hope that Jeff indeed returns to the WWE and if he does he would need a wrestler to feud against. Here we enlist the 5 dream bookings for Jeff Hardy if he returns to the WWE:

#1 AJ Styles

Once again? Why not

AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy have crossed paths previously when ‘The Legend Thriller’ made his TNA debut against AJ Styles and competed for the TNA X Division Championship. While that match ended in a no-contest, the two are capable of putting an ‘Instant Classic’ for the fans present and the world watching live.

AJ Styles made his WWE debut earlier this year and is now the WWE World Champion. He is widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best in-ring worker in the world of professional wrestling.

The Phenomenal One will force Hardy to raise his game and Jeff has never been shy of doing that. Picture this: Hardy nails a Swanton Bomb from the top of a steel cage through the announcer’s table. Wouldn’t that be a sight?

#2 Chris Jericho

This is ‘IT’

The Ayatollah of Rock ‘N’ Rolla is one of the best wrestlers in the WWE currently, not just because of his wrestling abilities but also because of his superior mic skills. Currently, Jericho is being wasted by the WWE involving him in an angle with WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and the mercurial pair of Enzo and Cass. While the segment is good for humour, unless WWE plans for Jericho to turn on his ‘best friend’ KO, it doesn’t make much sense.

Jericho and Hardy have feuded before in the WWE when Y2J beat The Rainbow Haired Warrior to win the Intercontinental Championship in 2008. Should Hardy return to the WWE, a feud against Jericho would be a no-brainer! It will help Hardy warm up to the audience while giving Jericho the opponent he deserves.

#3 Samoa Joe

Jeff Hardy vs. Samoa Joe?

Samoa Joe is currently one of the two hottest properties in WWE NXT. A main-roster call in the near future is given, the only thing remaining is when and how will it happen. After dropping his NXT title to Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II, Joe has gone on a one-man mission to wreck the entire NXT roster if he is not returned the NXT title.

It is likely that the WWE are waiting for some new stars to take centre stage in NXT before they can call Joe to the main roster and when he moves there he will need to feud with someone iconic if he is to get over with the fans and be in the main event scene. And who better than Jeff Hardy. The duo have crossed paths at TNA many times with Hardy coming out victorious on most occasions – once even via submission.

#4 Shinsuke Nakamura

The King of Strong Styles is an ideal opponent for Jeff Hardy

The other NXT Superstar who would be an excellent opponent for Jeff Hardy is The King Of Strong Style, Shinsuke Nakamura. The race is between Nakamura and Samoa Joe to be the next one to earn a main roster call up, although the odds are against Nakamura as he is the current NXT Champion.

Nakamura is the only person on the list whom Hardy has never faced before. All the more reason for the excitement to see it happen. Nakamura is one of the best wrestlers in the world today and the battle between the two will be nothing short of legendary. Kinshasa vs. Swanton Bomb, ooof!

#5 The Undertaker

Hell Yes!

In a recent interview, Jeff Hardy suggested that he would like to have one last ‘Hell In A Cell’ match against The Undertaker. The two have previously met twice, first in a match for the Hardcore Championship and then in a ladder match for the Undisputed WWE Championship, however, The Phenom triumphed on both occasions.

The Undertaker is due one last match and it is expected to be against John Cena at WrestleMania 33, but a WrestleMania Cage match against Jeff Hardy sounds just as enticing. Jeffy Hardy nailing the Swanton from atop the steel cage on the Undertaker might well go down as one of WrestleMania’s greatest moments. One can only wish....
