5 moments that defined Hell in a Cell 2013

Kane made a shocking return at Hell in a Cell

Hell in a Cell smashed its way in yesterday, leaving behind broken bodies, destroyed a walrus and crowned two new champions. We take a look at five of those moments which came to define what was possibly the last ever Hell in a Cell PPV that the WWE universe will ever see.

5) The Return of Kane

Kane made a shocking return at Hell in a Cell

Looks like Bray Wyatt forgot to lock up the prison in the hell-hole that he seems to have emerged from. When the Miz called him out for a match, the creep was too busy too respond in a face-to face confrontation. Replying from an undisclosed, he unleashed his usual diatribe which was used by his followers Luke Harper and Erick Rowan as a distraction to attack the unsuspecting Miz from behind. However, the Wyatt followers soon found themselves shielding their eyes as fire blasted out of the entrance ramp announcing the arrival of a rather angry Big Red Machine. Kane’s entrance made both Harper and Rowan run for the hills as a shocked Miz watched on. Then in an absolute shocker, Kane turned and choke slammed the Awesome One back onto the canvas. What does Kane’s return signify? Is he with the Wyatt’s or is he back to his old self – angry, alone and willing to send anybody in his way back to hell 4) The emergence of Big E Langston

Big E Langston

Big E Langston

Big E Langston was supposed to face off against Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental Championship in the pre-show. However, with Axel turning up injured it seemed that Big E’s big chance had passed on. Never one to give up he instead challenged Dean Ambrose of the Shield for a shot at his US title which was accepted by a rather reluctant Ambrose. No sooner had the bell rung, that Ambrose started getting knocked around by Big E. He finally found respite outside the ring where he used the ring post and ropes to his advantage. Langston though fought back and then levelled Ambrose with a massive spear, which left them both dazed outside the ring. Langston then made it back into the ring as the referee started counting them out. However, Ambrose intentionally got himself counted out to retain his title. When he started to walk back u the ramp after the match, he was rounded up by Big E, who then executed his finisher – The Big Ending – on Ambrose, leaving them both out of commission. Big E’s performance justified the faith that the WWE seems to have placed in him and judging by the response that the crowd gave him in Miami, they seem to have made a rather good decision. Where they take him from here is entirely in their hands as Big E can go after either the Intercontinental or the US title. 3) Punk trims off some of the fat from the Walrus

CM Punk destroyed Paul Heyman on top of the Cell

CM Punk destroyed Paul Heyman on top of the Cell

The match started off with Paul Heyman getting on top of the ring using a motorised forklift to escape getting smashed up at the start. His henchman Ryback then proceeded to try and win the match by smashing up Punk. He first tried to squeeze the life out of Punk with a bear hug. When that didn’t work, the kendo sticks came out. Big Hungry tried to hammer Punk into submission using the sticks and when that didn’t work, he started tossing Punk onto the cage walls. Punk though withstood the early attack and then replied with a few shots of his own with the Keno stick. He then reminded both Heyman and his guy about how he won their last PPV match when he low blowed Ryback to lay him out. Punk then sent Ryback through a table with a flying elbow. He then put Ryback to sleep to take the win. What followed was an assault that proved to be a rather painful lesson for the Walrus as Punk raised strips of his back while wearing a smile that would make the devil proud and then put him to sleep With Punk finally getting his hands on his former mentor, one does wonder if the feud will continue. However, knowing Heyman’s nature it doesn’t seem likely that he is going to retaliate after the attack on his person. 2) The Champ returns and makes the Big Gold belt his own

John Cena returned and won the World Heavyweight Championship

John Cena returned and won the World Heavyweight Championship

Going into Hell in a Cell, many wondered if John Cena had made the wrong decision to return early to the WWE. With a newly repaired tricep that would act as a homing beacon for Del Rio’s Cross vicious Arm Breaker, Cena was at a distinct disadvantage when he walked into the ring. Del Rio immediately went to work on that very arm in a calculated attack, however, the leader of the Cenation soon got into his grove forcing the Mexican Aristo to go back to his nasty self. His first attempt was countered into the excruciating STF, but he managed to synch his second one in perfectly. What Del Rio didn’t expect was for Cena to lift him using his immense upper body strength and slam him into the mat again. A few moments later, he tried the move again but he was picked up and sent to the mat again, this time courtesy the Attitude Adjustment for a thunderous three-count and a 14th championship title. So John Cena is back again in the WWE and has his hands on top gold yet again. Will his reign bring back the splendour of the World Heavyweight Championship or will Del Rio once again spoil the day. 1) Scandalous Superkick smashes the student’s dreams

A Superkick from HBK ended Daniel Bryan's title hopes

A Superkick from HBK ended Daniel Bryan’s title hopes

Just before the match started Triple H had offered to shake Bryan’s hand, which the Goat faced Yes! chant man had rejected. What he got was a wink in return. Bryan though shrugged it off when the Cell descended and went to work on the face of the WWE as if he was trying to prove to his teacher that he was worthy of the title. Despite numerous bouts of madness from both Orton and Bryan the match seemed to be going on well until a counter to the RKO from Bryan sent Orton into HBK. And thats when all Hell broke loose. Triple H who had been berating Shawn for a few minutes rushed into the ring, concerned about his best friend’s health. Bryan then went a bit mad sending Orton to the mat with a flying knee and then did that to the Game as well before going on a Yes! chant frenzy. This seemed to wake up the Heart Break Kid who upon waking up and seeing his buddy on the mat with his rather mad student in a frenzy near him, Superkicked the Goat. Randy Orton then capitalised on his change in luck and covered Bryan for the win. HBK’s explanation on RAW though didn’t impress Bryan and he soon found himself in pain stuck in the Yes! lock.
