5 Wrestlers WWE must include for the Women’s tournament

Victoria needs no introduction

The success of WWE’s Cruiserweight classic was overwhelming. Not only did it turn out to be a successful show on the WWE Network, but it also provided WWE with the taste of some great independent talent.

Certain superstars that were part of the Cruiserweight classic found their place on the WWE roster as well, and this could be the reason the WWE is interested in having a similar tournament for the female wrestlers.

Though WWE is yet to confirm the event officially, the rumour mill has been buzzing about it for a long time, and some notable superstars have already expressed their desire to be part of the tournament.

While WWE might’ve already figured out who all they would want for the tournament; in this list, we are going to take a look at some women that would make matters more interesting.

Honourable Mention: Sexy Star

The Lucha underground deal that Sexy Star has is a big problem

Sexy Star would’ve been much higher on the list if it wasn’t for her deal with Lucha Underground. She is arguably one of the most talented Women performers outside WWE and has been breaking stereotypes in Lucha Underground.

The fanfare that she has managed to create at the temple is impressive, and if WWE somehow finds a way to bring her in, it would be a great achievement for the company.

#5 Nicole Matthews

Becky pointed out Nicole as the best women performer outside WWE

Recently on Twitter, WWE SmackDown Women’s champion Becky Lynch was asked about the best women performer outside WWE. Becky named Nicole Mathews, and this is enough to show how highly rated she is. Nicole made her professional wrestling debut back in 2006 and had been a mainstay on the independent wrestling scene ever since.

She was ranked 16th in the PWI Best 50 Female Singles wrestlers for both 2015 and 2016 and has won numerous championship as well. At just 29-years of age and with a wealth of experience of working around the world, Nicole is bound to be a great addition to the tournament.

#4 Victoria

Veteran presence

One of the biggest problems that the WWE’s Cruiserweight division currently faces is the lack of recognisable names. Brian Kendrick is the only name that most fans know, while the other superstars require a lot of time to cement their names in the roster.

To an extent, the Cruiserweight classic also suffered the same problem as casual fans needed time to get familiar with the Superstars.

WWE needs someone around whom they could build stars for the Women’s tournament to bypass this problem, and this is where Victoria comes into play. Victoria is someone that needs no introduction, and her presence is bound to improve the star power.

She also deserves a fitting return to WWE, and the tournament would be a great platform to pull it off.

#3 Saraya Knight

25 years of experience

Saraya Knight has more than two decades of wrestling experience to showcase on her resume. One of the most influential figures of the Women’s wrestling scene in the United Kingdom and the United States, the 45-year-old Saraya, still has enough ammunition to be a major name in the tournament.

While the rough relationship between Paige and WWE might be one of the hurdles that need to be cleared, it is unlikely to cause a major headache. If WWE manages to bring her in, maybe they could even patch up the situation and keep Paige in the roster. Apart from this, Saraya could give the fans a string of dream matches if she is in the tournament.

#2 Shayna Baszler

Cross over talent

MMA stars crossing over to professional wrestling is nothing new. Shayna Baszler is a name that belongs to this list. A former star in the UFC and close friends with Ronda Rousey, Shayna piled up 15 wins in MMA before transitioning into professional wrestling. Her hard-hitting style derives from her MMA career and in such a short span; she has managed to create waves.

She might be just one year into her professional wrestling career, but Shayna is a must-have prospect for WWE’s tournament. Having her on board would also make it easier for WWE to bring in Ronda Rousey in the future if they intend to.

#1 Candice LaRae

LaRae would be a great addition

Canadian wrestler Candice LaRae is a veteran in the independent wrestling scene. One of the top names in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Candice is mostly known for her association with Joey Ryan. She also has a great resume to showcase when it comes to singles wrestling as well with a good portion of her outings coming as Inter-gender matches.

Candice has been flirting with the possibility of joining WWE for a long time now and now that she is married to Johnny Gargano, WWE might easily get her on board if it wants. Her experience and flair would be a great add-on for the tournament, and with the NXT women’s division currently struggling, WWE could even sign her up full time.
