Sasha Banks is the queen of WWE right now. The Legit Boss has found herself in history-making matches and moment makers in her WWE career thus far. While that is certainly plenty to talk about, could there be a King to stand beside her?
We are talking about the character here, not the real woman behind the Boss persona. Last week on Raw, Banks was paired with Roman Reigns, which fueled the shipper fans’ hopes for a WWE romance. Enzo Amore made a move on her back in August, only to be thwarted by Chris Jericho.
Is WWE flirting with the idea of pairing Banks with a significant other? It looks like that it may be the case. I think of Trish Stratus in this situation. Stratus has had her share of romances during her WWE career.
Some of those relationships turned into storylines that have stood the test of time. These essentially had a hand in furthering Stratus’ legend. The same could be said for Banks should WWE take this route. Banks’ body of work precedes her, and pairing her with a significant other wouldn’t really hurt her.
So being the low-key shipper that I am, I wanted to have fun with this topic. Who could Banks be paired up with? Of course, there’s Amore and Reigns. I came up with three others as well. Let’s ship on!
#1 Enzo Amore
I am still not over this pairing. I talked about this in my “6 Romantic Pairings Past, Present and Future” blog several weeks ago. This pairing was sporadic for the August 1st episode of Raw and has had fans buzzing about a follow-up ever since.
It looks like that the storyline with these two was a one-off event for the episode of Raw and nothing will happen past that. Could this pairing be revisited down the road? Never say never in WWE. Banks and Amore had great chemistry and made a pretty good team.
Enzo and Cass could use a boost, and even if it was a six-person tag in the future, I’d be okay with that if the opportunity presented itself.
#2 Roman Reigns
We saw this pairing last week, even though it was platonic. Do any of you remember when Banks posted fan edits of her and Reigns on Twitter a couple of years ago? I instantly thought of this when I saw these two teamed and even though I’m hot for the Samoan Superman, I wouldn’t mind this pairing at all.
I mean, why not? Both carry Championships and can handle business on their own. They look good, and also have good chemistry in the ring. I think that if Banks is paired with a WWE Superstar and it sticks, it would most likely be Reigns. I would love to see the softer side of Reigns and Banks could very well bring that out of him.
It may or may not do any favours in terms of getting him on the fans’ good side, but the exploration of Reigns’ character can’t hurt him. I’ll just go ahead and add this is a good heel turn scenario ala Jericho back in 2004. There, I said it.
#3 Seth Rollins
If anyone follows Banks on Instagram, Banks is an avid poster and that includes the story option. Several weeks ago, R-Truth did a video with the both of them, which led to Banks discussing how fans ship her and Rollins. It was a really funny video, and by the time it was over, I was on board with this ship.
It goes without saying that Rollins and Banks are the most popular on the Raw brand, with Enzo and Cass right behind them. This pairing would more than likely be a one-off like it was with Amore. There’s no doubt the chemistry from the Instagram stories can translate into the ring.
#4 Xavier Woods
Banks is often on Woods’ Up Up Down Down Youtube show. Before that, she’s been in social media videos with The New Day as a part of Team BAD. We can’t forget the one time they got down with Banks and BAD last year. But if the story went to the next level, it would be left field for sure.
Out of all the pairings that I’ve explored, this would be the most unlikely scenario. Even though they have fun with each other, it’s probably better in a platonic sense. The videos and segments are just fun for the moment and nothing past that.
#5 TJ Perkins
This is my surprise pick for Banks. The two share a love of wrestling and video games, which is a great start. Plus they are both champions. Perkins is a cruiserweight and Banks can definitely hang with the style. I think that would make for a fun team.
As far as the idea of a Perkins relationship coming to fruition for Banks, it is up in the air. I’d say myself that it’s a far stretch, but again you never know. The pairing could make for fun segments and matches. They would make a cute couple for sure.
