5 Storylines for Cesaro

Cesaro has been on a roll since returning from injury

This Sunday at the Clash of Champions, Cesaro faces Sheamus in match seven of the Best of Seven Series. With the score tied at 3-3, it’s any man’s game. However after the series is done, what is next for either party? Is there any kind of reward for the winner of the Best of Seven Series? Or was it just something to do?

Perhaps the Best of Seven Series is indeed a test for both men involved. There has to be a plot in this storyline to move forward. Whoever wins should be propelled towards the WWE Universal Championship hunt. Sheamus really has nothing to lose at this stage in his career, whereas Cesaro has everything to gain. Cesaro is one of the most over talents on the Raw roster, and surely fans could see some kind of push for him in the future.

Even if Cesaro loses the Best of Seven Series, it’s not the end of the world for him. There are still some options that are tangible for the Swiss Superman. It doesn’t even have to be anything Championship related. Would it be better if he was? Absolutely. But, he can still make an impact regardless. With that being said, it is time to analyse some scenarios for Cesaro after the Best of Seven Series.

1: WWE Universal Championship picture

Cesaro could either face Rollins or Owens post Clash of Champions

It is better to go ahead and get the obvious scenario out of the way. One would think that if Cesaro wins the Series, he should be the number one contender for the WWE Universal Championship. I seriously doubt that anyone would want to see Sheamus in the Championship match.

Cesaro vs Kevin Owens does sound good, doesn’t it? If Seth Rollins wins the Championship on Sunday, that is a good match in the making as well. However, Owens would be due for a rematch clause if that were to happen. Perhaps it could be a match-up on Raw should this happen.

2: WWE United States Championship picture

Could we see this again?

This is rather unlikely, but it is still possible. Cesaro could challenge for the United States Championship if he is pushed in that direction. Roman Reigns and Rusev are in an intense feud currently, so this will not happen anytime soon. However once the program is over, I could see Cesaro challenging either man for the Championship.

Cesaro is a former United States Champion and with WWE seemingly putting more focus on the Championship in the last year; perhaps he could have more of a spotlight this time around. Either way, Cesaro absolutely belongs in a Championship picture on Raw.

3: Team up with Sami Zayn

Teaming up with Zayn could be a one-off on a future episode of Raw

With Sami Zayn tied up with Chris Jericho, if Cesaro is indeed the next in line to challenge Owens I can see this also being a small program on Raw. Jericho and Owens are “best friends”, which it can build up to teaming up against Zayn given his history with Owens.

Cesaro could be the one to come in and help Zayn out and have a tag team match on Raw. It brings two feuds together with their past history all mixed in. It’s a win-win and this could happen very soon given what happens at Clash of Champions on Sunday. It is definitely a great idea post-Clash of Champions.

4: Move to SmackDown

We could see Cesaro v. Cena again should he jump to Smackdown

It was teased several weeks back that Cesaro could indeed jump ship to the blue brand. If Cesaro loses on Sunday, it could very well happen. Honestly, the Swiss Superman could profit from being a part of Smackdown, as it is the better brand at the moment. Smackdown has been on fire despite a smaller roster. The WWE World Championship picture is stacked right now, but no doubt Cesaro is a shoe in for the Intercontinental Championship.

He definitely could be the one to dethrone The Miz. That’s not to say he couldn’t be in the World Championship picture at all. Given the right time, Cesaro would be a great addition to Smackdown and benefit immensely from it.

5: Versus Brock Lesnar

An unlikely opponent for Cesaro

Oh yeah, I went there! My writing buddy David brought this up to me and I immediately loved the idea. The two men do have a parallel connection to Paul Heyman after all. If you can recall, Cesaro was a Paul Heyman guy just two years ago for a short time.

Cesaro has proven in time that he is as tough as they come. But Suplex City is quite the journey, and one would have to wonder how this match, or brawl, could even play out. Of course, Lesnar would more than likely prevail while chances are that Cesaro wouldn’t be the same after the experience with him in the ring.
