What did we learn from TLC 2013? Here are the 5 talking points from the eagerly anticipated event this Sunday:

5. Cody Rhodes and Goldust prove their mettle

The tag team of the two brothers who had once lost all their hopes and had practically been fired, came back with a bang against the Shield, earning the highest respect for their tag team by winning the tag team championship a few months back. These two were least favoured in Sunday’s Fatal Four-Way Elimination match because the match included big names including the likes of Rey Mysterio, the Big Show, Ryback, Curtis Axel and The Real Americans, and yet they came up trumps.

The importance of this victory is underlined even further by the fact that TLC happens to be the last PPV of the year, and so the tag team champions move into the New Year with a fresh level of confidence.

4. Is Big E Langston another champion in the making?

Starting off as a sidekick for the then World Champion Dolph Ziggler, Big E Langston has come a long way, winning the Intercontinental Championship after defeating a third generation superstar and a “Heyman Guy” Curtis Axel. Damien Sandow, who is considered as one of the ignored talents of the company, faced off against the massive structure of Big E and everyone thought that he might just get the better of him. But the beast is having the run of his career and he snuffed out the challenge, and will now carry forward this momentum going into 2014.

3. Daniel Bryan is not an easy catch for the Wyatt family

Daniel Bryan has always been rated as one of the underdogs in the business and he has forever been underrated for his talent and his ability to charm the crowd by his “YES” and “NO” chants. But it can’t be denied that the smoothness and flow which Daniel creates during a match is always the talk of the day. In his handicap match with the Wyatt Brothers, Daniel Bryan gave it his all and did not fail to entertain the fans with his undying spirit to win. For an underdog, Daniel performed pretty well and has now forced his critics to re-assess their questions. What we discovered at TLC is that Daniel is no easy catch and the Wyatt family will have to get on to a different level to try and get Daniel to join their family.

2. CM Punk gets the better of the Shield; can we expect the Shield to crack open?

The man who claims to be “the best in the world” has proven that he has every right to be called so. The Shield, which had once terrorized the WWE by taking down the best in business, faced off against CM Punk, declaring that they would take him down after several weeks of tension between the two sides.

But it was clear that Punk had an upper hand right from the very beginning of the match. The Shield, although having an advantage over Punk, were bedazzled by Punk’s agility and found themselves losing their grip over their own Unity and the match. Several incidents show disagreement between the members of the Shield and the final blow by Roman Reigns raises a lot of questions. Can we see the split up soon?

1. Randy Orton is the new face of WWE

After a hard fought battle and destruction of several tables, ladders and chairs, the damage that all of it caused to the two duelling bodies was self-evident. But hungry as he was for the honour to be named the first ever WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Randy Orton came out to be the better man.

“Beauty with brains” is a term which can fit the situation. Randy, who has an amazing passion which is fuelled by his rage against his opponent, showed his true image of being a legend killer using a pair of handcuffs to prevent Cena from reaching the top of the ladder and showing his brutal side, which many people thought had long gone. This match will go down as one of the best matches in the history of the WWE. But the question remains, what will be the response by John Cena, and what’s in store for the new face of the WWE?
