The two have had few disagreements over the years

Wrestling is the oldest form of theatre still thriving and surviving. To maintain a show like that with multiple storylines playing, disagreements over creative issues are bound to happen.

So, now that we have Triple H handling NXT and being held responsible for its revolutionary success, we can believe how much power he has backstage to veto or turn an issue. It isn’t hard to believe that Vince McMahon will take his ideas into consideration but the final call will be the Chairman’s.

Over the years, there have been a few speculated disagreements between the two bigwigs.

Here are the 5 speculated things that Vince McMahon and Triple H disagreed upon-

  1. Reigns - Orton Argument
Triple H kept them apart

Back in 2013, when The Shield was strong and thriving, they faced a team made of top stars which had Randy Orton in it. Reigns and Orton had a spot messed up which reportedly led to a loud backstage argument between the two.

So, Reigns being a young star arguing with an established star like Orton called for trouble. Vince McMahon felt that this incident was punishable and wanted Reigns to suffer for this while Triple H was against the idea since he wanted the group to be booked strong in the present and future.

There were no major implications and The Shield went on to have a dominant journey until their break-up.

  1. WrestleMania 31

Lesnar and Reigns to main event WrestleMania 31

Vince McMahon’s business decisions have made WrestleMania what it is today- the Superbowl of wrestling. So, it is logical to think that he would want the main event to be quite star-studded.

Over the past few years, a Brock Lesnar vs The Rock main event was much speculated, never coming to fruition. One of those speculations were on the WrestleMania main event. Triple H on the other hand wanted Roman Reigns to be in the main event.

The fact being that he’s a young Superstar the company should invest in. But McMahon wanted Lesnar to lose to someone already a major, established star, since Lesnar has beaten The Undertaker. Whoever beats Lesnar, would be correlated to Taker as well.

So, eventually, Lesnar was not pinned. Reigns was pinned by Rollins in one of the most spectacular Mania main events ever.

  1. Balor Club
Vince McMahon wanted Balor to debut long back

Back in March, rumours suggested that Vince McMahon wanted to debut the Bulletproof Balor Club to the audience to freshen things up on the Road to Wrestlemania. Triple H thought otherwise. He thought that Balor should not make his debut unless and until he loses his NXT Championship. AJ Styles at the time was in a feud with Chris Jericho.

Well, the debut was held off as we still await the much-anticipated debut of Balor. Though one would think it’ll be a bit difficult to see a Balor Club going since Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson have already joined alliances with AJ Styles.

Ambrose and Lesnar had a great build up to Wrestlemania

Again, rumors suggested a Rock vs Lesnar main event but the Hollywood star was contractually unable to commit to a main event match since he was shooting a movie. McMahon wanted Lesnar to main event since he is the biggest star of the company as he was paid a lot to be with the company.

The only problem was that Dean Ambrose wasn’t built up as a major star at that point. The match had the potential to steal the show but Ambrose was no Rock. Triple H on the other hand wanted his match against Reigns to main event. And he did.

  1. Titus O’Neil
Vince McMahon during Daniel Bryan’s retirement

Most of you avid watchers of the show know about the Titus O’Neil – Vince McMahon incident which led to the wrestler getting suspended for 90 days. O’Neil grabbed Vince McMahon’s arm after Daniel Bryan’s retirement match which left the Chairman visibly flustered caught on camera.

It is said that McMahon actually wanted to fire O’Neil for this incident and then there was Triple H and Joey Mercury who reportedly talked him out of doing something like this. The Titus O’Neil situation had Batista speaking about it as well as both O’Neil and he are good friends. Batista though revealed that it was Triple H who suspended O’Neil.
