AJ Lee needs a good Rival to cement herself as a WWE Divas Champion

AJ Lee is the current Divas Champion and one of the more over divas in the roster currently. She has the trendy style and attractive charisma which sets her apart and carves an unique identity. Her gimmick is that of an unstable personality that causes her to snap at moments ,thereby making her look like a good heel. Also, she is the longest reigning divas champion in the title history.

Currently all AJ Lee really lacks is a good solid opponent. For the past few months, she has not really had stable competitors. The same had recently happened at the Elimination Chamber. Her match with Cameron was made to look like a last minute though out match. It turned out to be a storyline progression match rather than a title match. On the following Raw, AJ Lee was nowhere to be seen. Her challengers for the title seen to vary too frequently too often.

Granted Naomi was well projected as a challenger and might have even won the title, had she not got that Eye Injury because of Aksana. But, other than that, the divas champion has faced mostly a mixture of divas from E! reality show Total Divas. These matches generally lack build up. More often the WWE universe is treated to six or eight divas tag match on Raw.

An epic rivalry can really make the superstar look great. Two wrestlers who face each other to prove their strength and competence, amounts to most dramatic and biggest moments. Some examples for this would be the Rock-Steve Austin rivalry. Each of them wanted to best the other. They used every opportunity presented to further their rivalry. For many fans there has not been a better rivalry than stone cold- rock rivalry.

The best example of rivalries for the divas division would be that of Trish Stratus- Lita rivalry. Trish Stratus was seen as the face of the divas division back then and had a great competitor in Lita to challenge her for the title. They brought the best out of each other. Their rivalry spanned over years and was so terrific that it led to the induction of both the divas into Hall of fame. Trish and Lita even got to main event the Monday Night Raw. The rivalry used to headline like any other match of their male counterparts.

AJ needs her own rival to step up her game. She always works better with talents who hold up their own in the ring. Prime example being Kaitlyn and to some extent Brie Bella. But she would find it hard to cement her credibility if the challengers change with each passing Pay per View.

It does look like Tamina, her current bodyguard, might well be projected to turn against Lee, so as to challenge her for the title. That would seem a nice story if only Tamina is pushed well. Other challengers may be a returning Naomi, the newly promoted Emma( again she will have to be pushed mightily and not paired with Santino) or maybe Paige if she is somehow promoted to the main roster.

Unless AJ faces some opponent which she can really call a great challenger, her title reign is bound to suffer and so does the divas division along with it.
