Chaos Backstage at Night of Champions due to Reigns being out, Possible Return Date

Roman Reigns underwent a hernia surgery this past weekend

As we noted earlier, Roman Reigns going down with emergency surgery this weekend caused WWE’s creative team to have to re-write three days worth of TV programming in about 24 hours. This is one of the main reasons why the backstage atmosphere at Night of Champions PPV this past Sunday was said to be chaotic. The final script of the show wasn't available until around 5pm EST.

Regarding Roman Reigns’ injury, many within WWE were fearing the worst but hoping for the best at first. As noted, it was said on Night of Champions' broadcast that Reigns will be out for “several months” but they’re hoping that won’t be longer than three months. A source noted that Reigns’ injury threw a big wrench into the company’s long-term plans.

With that being said, in 3 months from now, it will be late December - early January, so there are talks going on to bring back Reigns as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match and quiet possibly have him win the match (just like Cena at Royal Rumble 2008), headline WrestleMania & continue his push.
