WWE News: Chris Jericho's status for WrestleMania 33

Jericho has had a great year

Chris Jericho has been going through one of the best runs of his career this year. Starting off with his feud with AJ Styles, the Ambrose Asylum match with Dean Ambrose to the best friend gimmick with Kevin Owens and the ‘List of Jericho’, it certainly has been Jericho’s year.

Previously in an interview with Live Audio Wrestling, Jericho revealed that his deal with WWE was now working on a month to month basis. He pointed out that he has been in business for over two decades now and shares a very cordial relation with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

Jericho pointed out that his best friend gimmick with Kevin Owens had never been planned. They just went out to the ring one night on RAW and tested the waters with a promo. Jericho revealed the creative loved it and the fans were invested in it and so they ran with it.

Jericho also answered the burning question of his WrestleMania 33 opponent saying that his current contract runs out before the event. So as of writing this, Chris is officially not a part of WrestleMania 33. However, he made it clear that if he continued receiving the reaction that he now gets, he would most certainly work in the ‘Showcase of Immortals’ against a top guy.

Y2J maintained that the storyline with Owens was just getting started and had the potential to transform into something big. There is a probability that the friendship between the two will implode leading to a blowout match for the WWE Universal Championship somewhere down the line.

Jericho revealed that when he had signed a contract with the company in January, he had only intended to stay till WrestleMania and then take time off to work on his Fozzy album. But as it turned out, Jericho said that he kept extending his contract because of the reaction he was getting from the WWE Universe. He acknowledged that his current run with the company has established him as one of the top guys.

The Ayatollah Of Rock ’n’ Rolla will be alongside best friend Kevin Owens and the likes of Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman as they take on the team of AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton and Shane McMahon in the 5 on 5 traditional Survivor Series match this Sunday in Toronto.
