Clash of Champions 2016: Last minute predictions for the PPV

Last minute predictions for Clash of Champions

WWE Clash of Champions, which is the first brand-exclusive pay-per-view of Raw, will take place at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana on 25th September 2016.

As was highlighted by Raw General Manager Mick Foley last week, all 5 titles will be on the line at Sunday's PPV in what promises to be a thrilling night of high octane drama and some exhilarating action.

Here is the final match card and predictions for Clash of Champions:

#1 Kickoff Show: Nia Jax vs. Alicia Fox

Nia Jax, who was seen participating in a serious of squash matches following the brand-split, will participate in her first-ever Raw pay-per-view. The match will see her square off against Alicia Fox, who she handed out a brutal beating to earlier in the month. It can be easily said that Nia is expected to continue her demolition run at the moment.

Prediction: Nia Jax to beat Alicia Fox via pinfall

#2 Chris Jericho vs. Sami Zayn

Clash of Champions will kick off with former NXT star Sami Zayn taking on Chris Jericho. Jericho and Zayn have been brawling for the past 2 weeks and the feud is set to culminate at Sunday's PPV and although this is one of the few non-title matches that are scheduled for the night, it is expected to be a blockbuster.

There has not been much history in their story so far and thus this acts as the perfect opportunity to add some animosity in their feud. The duo are expected to continue their feud past the pay-per-view, hence expect Zayn to pick up the win.

Prediction: Sami Zayn to beat Chris Jericho via pinfall

#3 Best of Seven Series: Sheamus vs. Cesaro (3-3)

The never-ending feud between Sheamus and Cesaro is set to hit crescendo on Sunday night with the Best of Seven series currently tied at 3-3. The Celtic Warrior raced to a 3-0 lead in the series but blew it thereafter and allowed the Swiss Superman to make a superb, yet somewhat predictable comeback.

It will be interesting to note who finally clinches the series on Sunday and earns the title shot promised to them by Mick Foley. But my bet is on Cesaro, otherwise, the creative team would just destroy the momentum the Swiss has built over the past few weeks.

Prediction: Cesaro to beat Sheamus in the Best of Seven Series (4-3) via submission

#4 WWE Cruiserweight Championship: TJ Perkins (c) vs. Brian Kendrick

TJ Perkins became the first ever WWE Cruiserweight Champion by overcoming Gran Metalik in the final of CruiserWeight Championship earlier last week. Perkins will defend his title for the first time at the pay-per-view on Sunday against Brian Kendrick - who returned to the WWE after 7 years and earned the title shot by overcoming the challenge of three others in a Fatal Four Way clash on Raw earlier this week.

A lot is expected from this match and it could end up being one of the best of the night. Expect Perkins to retain his title and continue to gain momentum.

Prediction: TJ Perkins to beat Brian Kendrick via pinfall

#5 United States Championship: Rusev (c) vs. Roman Reigns

This feud was started with the basic aim of helping Roman Reigns get over by working his way through mid-card matches for a while. Although it remains to be seen what exactly the WWE has in store for The Big Dog, but it wouldn't make much sense if they made him win the United States Championship as Rusev has been doing a good job.

There is a rumour doing the rounds that the match will end in a disqualification as the WWE are planning to book Seth Rollins with Reigns to take on Rusev and Kevin Owens. Thus making the possibility of the match ending in a disqualification quite high.

Prediction: Rusev to retain United States Championship against Roman Reigns due to disqualification

#6 Raw Tag Team Championship: The New Day (c) vs. The Club

The New Day are currently on a record-extending run being the Raw Tag Team Champions, but their story doesn’t have the same excitement as it had during their early days. The WWE creative has made a huge mistake with how they have portrayed Gallows and Anderson so far and it is about time they get their share of the fun.

Expect The New Day to drop the title against The Club as it will provide the latter with a refreshing angle in their quest to dominate the Tag Team division as they did in NJPW.

Prediction: The Club to defeat The New Day and win the Raw Tag Team Championship via pinfall

#7 Raw Women's Championship: Charlotte (c) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley

The two top babyfaces of the women’s division will come up against the perennial heel in Charlotte in what is expected to be an 'Instant Classic'. Charlotte has been excellent as the heel champion and there are rumours that WWE are planning to book her in a rivalry with Dana Brooke, as they Charlotte's protege as a potential top babyface.

The WWE creative is unlikely to use the title to push Dana Brooke at the start and would either opt for Sasha Banks or Bayley. Bayley has just made her main roster debut and is unlikely to be trusted with the championship so early in her career, despite her momentum and connection with the audience. Expect Sasha to trump the two and win the title back from Charlotte.

Prediction: Sasha Banks to defeat Charlotte to win the Raw Women’s Championship via submission

#8 WWE Universal Championship: Kevin Owens (c) vs. Seth Rollins

Once more?

Kevin Owens was handed the WWE Universal Championship by Triple H at Raw on 29th of August in a Fatal-Four Way Elimination match. The match also had Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Big Cass competing for the top honour of Raw and the scale was evenly tilted between Owens, Reigns and Rollins when Triple H appeared out of nowhere and hit first Reigns and then Rollins with pedigree. He then allowed Owens, who was shocked out of his soul, to pin Rollins and become the second ever WWE Universal Champion.

The road till Clash of Champions has been rather ordinary for this rivalry and it has again been rumoured that The King of Kings will interfere at some point during the match to hand the title to his ‘New Guy’. Rollins is slowly and steadily working on his image to become a top babyface after being the heel since the SHIELD disintegrated. The WWE creative would not make the mistake of handing him the title so early.

Prediction: Kevin Owens to retain WWE Universal Championship against Seth Rollins due to disqualification
