Punk’s much-anticipated MMA debut has suffered setback after setback

Former WWE star CM Punk, who recently went under the knife to correct a herniated disc, is successfully recuperating from surgery and is set for his MMA debut with UFC. The news of the successful surgery was tweeted by Punk’s fellow UFC fighter Dave Sholler, who also stated that the former is eager to silence his doubters, reports dailywrestlingnews.com.

The 37-year-old will be cooling his heels on the sidelines for anywhere between 4-6 weeks. Punk is expected to make his debut against the 2-0 Mickey Gall at UFC 200 in July but no official confirmation is out yet.

However, Punk’s former colleague at WWE, Ryback, took to Twitter to use the surgery to get back at Punk for a previous barb. A while ago when Punk was on the Art of Wrestling podcast with Colt Cabana, alleged that Ryback was dangerous in the ring, saying: “Either you’re doing it on purpose and you suck, or you’re dumb as f*ck – which is it?”
