Former WWE commentator Scott Hudson discusses the franchise and more

Former WCW commentator has ripped into both JBL and Michael Cole

Ex-wrestling commentator Scott Hudson didn’t mince words in a recent interview and has torn into current WWE mic men JBL and Michael Cole, labelling them both as lackluster. These unflattering comments came during an interview with IYH Wrestling Radio.

The former WWE announcer was quoted as saying:

“Well first, Michael Cole sucks. That guy couldn’t call a one-horse race. Unfortunately, the best announcer they have on RAW is Byron Saxton, and they don’t let him show his stuff. JBL…he’s terrible, he’s horrible…They don’t know what to do, but then again I’ll give Cole at least a little bit of credit in that he’s doing what he’s told.

If he wasn’t doing what he was told, he would be working for Joey Styles at the dot-com office. And that’s sad, is that they’ve got the best announcer in the last twenty years on staff not announcing.

The guy for New Japan, Mauro Ranallo, he’s the best announcer in wrestling and it’s not even close. He’s fantastic. The guys on Ring of Honor, Kevin Kelly and the rest of that bunch, they’re good, too. But the announcing on basically every WWE product across platforms is atrocious”.

Hudson, who began his announcing career on Global Wrestling Federation before joining WWE for a brief stint, has criticized the recent turn WWE has taken and has slammed the direction WWE promos have gone, with the former commentator labelling Roman Reign’s recent promo as good as a Dr. Ben Carson haiku reading.

The 51-year-old has also labelled WWE’s use of the death of Ric Flair’s son Reid as a part of an angle “disgusting”.

Hudson isn’t the only person associated with WWE to slam the franchise, with former wrestler Mick Foley also criticising the direction the company is going in a recent interview. Hudson and Foley both share the opinion that the WWE top brass are taking the company in the wrong direction and are shirking true talent in favour of already established, less gifted stars – with the latter even suggesting that he may quit watching WWE in the future.
