After a long time, the WWE universe will be witnessing a blockbuster main event at Thursday night SmackDown. WWE has officially announced that Kevin Owens will be defending his NXT title on the show. It was also added that Owens will defend his title in an “Open Challenge”. It was noted earlier that Kevin Owens will be facing John Cena at the upcoming “Money in the Bank” PPV. Also, no official word is out on who will be answering Owens’ challenge.
After an impressive show at the recent NXT TV tapings, it was reported that Samoa Joe signed a full-time deal with WWE. The sales of Samoa Joe’s apparel (t-shirts) were so “off the charts” that Vince and Triple H wanted to get Joe signed to a full-time deal. Joe will work his individual dates but he will also be working a full time WWE schedule. It was expected that Joe would likely spend time with NXT before he gets promoted to the main roster.
After RAW went off the air, John Cena squared off against Seth Rollins in the dark main event. Cena then had a photo-op with the fan in the crowd holding a “I’m beating cancer” sign.
