Hustle, no loyalty and a lack of respect - Conclusive story on John Cena's divorce

John Cena with his ex-wife Elizabeth.

The headline sums up exactly how the divorce between the John Cena and his ex-wife Elizabeth went down.

The biggest name in world wrestling post the PG era, has previously been in the limelight for all the right reasons. Whether it’s being the WWE champion for the highest combined days in the modern era, starring in his own movies, releasing his own rap album or holding the record for the highest number of wishes granted by any celebrity for the Make A Wish Foundation.

He announced his engagement with his then girlfriend and high school sweetheart Elizabeth Huberdeau while he was promoting 12 Rounds. Despite the marriage looking rosy initially, what seems to be inevitable with all Celebrity couples in the West happened.

The couple filed for divorce on the first of May, 2012 and it was settled by July 18.

They signed a pre-nuptial agreement before the marriage, guaranteeing John that he would get to keep most of his possessions, in case things went awry. However, Elizabeth still felt she was entitled to a stake of Cena’s property, as she declined his pre-divorce contract settlement without hesitation. She claimed she was blind-sided and the wrestler had been seeing other women behind her back during their marriage.

This is what the statement was from her lawyer, “Although it is indeed unfortunate that John Cena decided to divorce his high school sweetheart Liz Cena; particularly, after they have come so far in their lives, and in his career together, Liz will and really has no choice but to pursue all of her rights and entitlements.”

The divorce finally did happen, albeit it being an ugly one. It was an all out war between the two, but they finally settled in November, 2012.

He was linked romantically with fellow wrestler and diva Nikki Bella, merely a few months after the divorce.
