John Cena announces he will not participate in WrestleMania 32

No salute in the ring this time

The point is, for the first time in a decade, the face of the WWE, John Cena, will be a spectator to the biggest wrestling extravaganza in the world, WrestleMania. According to allwrestlingnews.com, at a press conference in Orlando the 15-time WWE World Champion admitted, “For the first time in a decade in a half, this year I will be watching WrestleMania. WrestleMania means the world to me.”

Cena, who has been a part of every WrestleMania since the twentieth edition, was booked to face the Undertaker in a ‘legends’ match that was to be the Phenom’s curtain call. A shoulder injury which requires six to nine months of rehabiliation sent those plans askew.

The 38-year-old Cena, who has a reputation for making worryingly premature returns, has been tweeting his progress with physical therapy and attempting to “defy science”. Earlier this week, he tweeted that he’s receiving “huge news” this week. Whether that news is related to the announcement is fodder for speculation.

WWE held a press conference to announce that Orlando’s Citrus Bowl will host WrestleMania 33. The WWE will also be opening a physical Hall of Fame with a restaurant and a merchandise store, located in the city’s Universal Studios.
