Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa did not appear in the latest NXT tapings at Full Sail University, and thus were not part of the first round of the second annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
It is not known as of yet whether they will enter the tournament or not. Both were also featured on Raw to be part of the new Cruiserweight Division. It looks like they won’t be there for the first week of the division next week either.
Even the likes of Jack Gallagher and Akira Tozawa will not be there initially as they will be finishing up their independent dates as permitted by WWE.The reason why Johnny Wrestling and Psycho Killer Ciampa were not and will not be returning yet is because Gargano just got married to fellow-wrestler Candice LaRae. The couple has been dating for a while now.
Candice LaRae wrestles on the independent scene, and is very well known and respected as well. She also does a lot of intergender wrestling. Perhaps she was most famous for teaming up with Joey Ryan in epic matches in the independents, especially in Pro Wrestling Guerrilla(PWG), where they had a famous, bloody match with The Young Bucks.
Many fans wonder when Candice LaRae will come to NXT/WWE. There is absolutely no doubt that she has the talent to be a WWE-caliber star. She is currently 30 years old, so it looks like there is still time, given that Asuka came in to NXT at the age of 34 and has been ripping things apart and dominating ever since.
With the big refresh button pressed on the NXT Women’s division, it would do wonders to have a veteran like Candice LaRae to help carry the division forward. Gargano and LaRae got married at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel in Anaheim, California, according to ProWrestling Sheet. LaRae herself is a huge Disney fan and an Anaheim Ducks fan.
Tomasso Ciampa, Gregory Iron, Chuck Taylor and Matt Cross were Gargano’s groomsmen. The groomsmen had a laughing riot of a lip synch battle at the wedding, which can be seen below:
It is not known whether Gargano and Ciampa will be wrestling exclusively to Raw or with NXT as well. It was rumored that many Cruiserweights would be going back and forth Raw and NXT. If that is the case, Gargano and Ciampa may have a golden opportunity to feud on both brands.
