Lucha Underground Season 3 Episode 9 Results, 2nd November, 2016 : 'Loser leaves Lucha' Rey Mysterio Vs. Chavo Jr

What did “Lucha Underground” have in store for this week?

Lucha Underground’s Season 3 Episode 9, was one to remember with a great main event and a mouth-watering clash set for the next event.

OPENING

The show opened up with a video highlights package that focused on the current storylines with emphasis on Dario’s murder from season 2, and Rey Mysterio’s current feud with Chavo Guerrero.

Matt Striker and Vampiro opened the show in the temple. They hyped the “Loser leaves Lucha” match between, Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero Jr. Chavo Guerrero Sr was shown in attendance, and as Striker continued to promote the show, Dario Cueto cut him off. He told Striker that he had spoken enough and it is his time to speak.

Dario stood next to his “Dial of Doom” and said that in 2 weeks, his brother Matanza would defend the Lucha Underground Championship in the Aztec Warfare match. Dario proceeded to spin his ‘Dial Of Doom”, and it landed on Dario’s choice.

Dario hyped about his choice, said that he had been waiting for this shot and it is none other than Cortez Castro!

Here is a glimpse of Chavo Guerrero Sr. and Dario spinning the “Dial Of Doom.”

LUCHA UNDERGROUND CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH

“The Monster” Matanza Cueto vs. Cortez Castro

Cortez came into the ring with his entire right hand bandaged up, courtesy of Pentagon Dark and with a kendo stick in his left. Matanza straight away went after the injured arm by stomping it repeatedly. Matanza soon hit the Wrath Of Gods on Castro and that was enough for the 3 count.

Matanza Cueto defeats Cortez Castro via pinfall to retain the Lucha Underground Championship.

After the match, Cueto made his way to the ring and mocked Castro as we moved on to the next match. Cueto was further seen in his office, along with Joey Ryan, who joked about the beating that Castro received. Joey soon left the office, and Son Of Havoc entered with Mascarita Sagrada.

Son Of Havoc requested for a match between Sagrada and Famous B. After a lot of hesitation, Cueto came up with a solution and agreed to book the match with the stipulation of his choice, if Son Of Havoc could beat Dr. Wagner tonight.

Back in the Temple, Prince Puma took to the ring and challenged Mil Muertes to a “Grave Consequences” match. Catrina arrived on the scene, and said, “we gladly accept”. Meanwhile, Mil Muertes snuck in from behind and tried to attack Prince Puma, but Puma got the advantage and dropkicked Muertes over the top rope.

He teased diving over the top rope, but doubled back and posed in the ring instead to close the segment.

Dr. Wagner vs. Son Of Havoc

The winner of this match would get to determine the stipulation for the Sagrada vs. Famous B match. After lots of drama with outside brawling and interference, Havoc picked up the victory, by knocking Wagner off the top rope and hitting the Shooting Star Press. Here is the clip of the finish:

After the match, Sagrada whispered into Havoc’s ears, and Havoc announces that the match will be a “Believers Backlash”. A concept where the audience gets involved with aiding the competitors.

Another White Rabbit vignette aired, which ended with the “White Rabbit” logo and the message “They’ll be here soon”. You can check it out right here:

Back in the temple, Matt Striker and Vampiro announced that Prince Puma, will face Mil Muertes in a “Grave Consequences” match, and moved on by talking about the history of the two men who are about to clash in the main event.

“LOSER LEAVES LUCHA” MATCH

Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr.

Lots of loud “Lucha Legends” chants started off the match, and it appeared that Rey Mysterio would be the one leaving after Chavo Sr hit Chavo Jr with a chair; thereby making him the winner by disqualification. However, that was not the case, since Dario Cueto gets out of his office and orders the match to be restarted under No-DQ rules.

After more action, Rey Mysterio hits Chavo Guerrero with a Rana, 619 and the West Coast Pop splash for a 3 count.

Crowd chants goodbye to Chavo and Rey holds the rope for Chavo as he exits the ring for the final time.
