WWE News: Bubba Ray Dudley hints at possible Royal Rumble return

Bully Ray was one of the most popular gimmicks in TNA

Mark LoMonaco, better known in the WWE Universe as Bubba Ray Dudley, has hinted at making a return to the ring at the 2017 Royal Rumble event. A fan questioned Bubba on Twitter about whether his popular ‘Bully Ray’ gimmick will ever surface again as it was one of the characters that he loved after Steve Austin’s ‘Stone Cold’.

In response to the comment, the former 8-time World Tag Team champion wrote the words “Remember the Alamo”, making a reference to the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas where next year’s Royal Rumble will take place. This was perhaps an indication from Bubba Ray Dudley that he will be part of the iconic event.

The fan was pleased with the superstar’s reply and stated further that it was the best reply he could have asked for. Dudley’s impromptu teaser for an appearance in the 2017 Royal Rumble was well received by some of the other fans, too, who expressed their excitement about his return by posting comments of their own.

The Royal Rumble pay-per-view is returning to the Alamodome after a period of two decades.

The last time the event took place at this particular venue was back in 1997 when Stone Cold Steve Austin won the 30-man Royal Rumble match to become the No. 1 contender for the WWF Championship, which was won later in the night by local boy Shawn Michaels after defeating then champion Sycho Sid in the main event.

When the announcement of San Antonio’s Alamodome hosting its first Royal Rumble event in 20 years was made on 1 October, it spurred a lot of excitement among WWE superstars and they took to social media in order to share their emotions. The pay-per-view is scheduled to take place on 29 January 2017 and this will be its 30th edition.
