According to f4wonline, Dave Meltzer has confirmed that Chris Hero is returning to WWE imminently. It is not currently known whether Hero, who previously competed for the NXT brand under the name Kassius Ohno, will be assigned to NXT or the main roster, or which name he will use.

The 36-year-old longtime Indy favourite has been competing regularly for a variety of promotions since his release from NXT in 2013, even managing to fit in three different shows this past weekend, for Beyond Wrestling and Evolve, a company which has recently had a decent working relationship with WWE.

The resigning of Hero is the result of a recent recruitment drive by WWE, the company having already recently signed Roderick Strong, Tommy End and British independent standout Big Damo.

This is an exciting development as it had been recently reported by us, that WWE would be going into “signing mode.” This would be about them scouting the independent scene for talents to bring into NXT or the main roster. WWE recently added three of the top women’s wrestlers on the independent scene, all of whom are scheduled to report to the Performance Center in early January.
