As we previously reported, former WWE and WCW star Bill Goldberg will be returning to the WWE to answer Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar’s calling out of him on this past Monday’s episode of Monday Night RAW in person.

The rumoured Lesnar vs. Goldberg matchup has been circulating the media outlets for some time now, with conflicting reports of Goldberg making his return to the industry going back and forth throughout the past few months.

The target date as per WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross is for the two to clash at the major WWE Survivor Series pay per view (PPV) event. According to a report from All Wrestling News, however, those plans could reportedly HAVE changed.

PWInsider’s Mike Johnson recently joined The Taz Show to reveal he believes Lesnar vs. Goldberg will take place at a later date:

Johnson feels that the potential Lesnar/Goldberg match will take place at this year’s Royal Rumble. He thinks this will give Goldberg enough time to get himself back into great ring shape, and it’s an attraction that will help sell out the 65,000 seat Almodome in San Antonio. He says WWE should utilize and old school build for this match, keep both men from physical confrontation until the actual match.

Lesnar and Goldberg have quite some history between them, as the two met up in a colossal bout at Wrestlemania 20. Goldberg defeated Lesnar in the match with WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin serving as the special guest referee.

Since then Goldberg has retired from the sport of professional wrestling and took to color commentating for MMA promotions, while Lesnar dominated the mixed martial arts (MMA) world as the heavyweight champion of the UFC.

‘The Beast’ has since departed from the MMA world and has returned to dominate the WWE reigning as WWE champion at one point as well. With Goldberg’s return on the horizon, it may be only a matter of time before we see the major rematch.

Goldberg is also a part of the WWE 2K17 game and his return has been planned keeping the launch of the game in mind, as previously reported.
