WWE News: Ex-WWE superstar, René Duprée, sues WWE for millions of dollars

René Duprée files class-action lawsuit against WWE

René “Duprée” Goguen, the famous French Phenon of WWE and a member of the infamous La Résistance, captued the WWE Tag Team Championship gold along with Sylvain Grenier to become the youngest champion in WWE history. He is the only WWE champion to attain a championship at the early age of nineteen.

In a recent update, dailywrestlingnews.com has noted that René Duprée, the youngest champion in WWE, has filed a lawsuit against WWE for unpaid royalties from WWE Network and Netflix. The class action lawsuit stated that René Duprée has filed the lawsuit on behalf of himself and other wrestlers like him who haven’t received royalties as per the contract from WWE Network and Netflix.

The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday, claims that there has been a breach of contract on the part of WWE. According to Duprée, he signed a contract with WWE which gave WWE ownership for using his likeness. As per the contract, WWE has agreed to pay for usage of his likeness in “technologies not yet created.” But, Dupree states that WWE has failed under that category.

The lawsuit is reported to be claiming for millions of dollars from WWE. In response, WWE’s attorney Jerry McDevitt replied to Hollywood Reporter stating that René Duprée has signed a contract with WWE in 2011 which negates his claims to these royalties.

He has also affirmed that this has been brought to the notice of Duprée's attorneys who has replied that he was not aware of it. WWE has demanded René Duprée’s attorneys to dismiss the lawsuit at the earliest possible time.
