WWE News: Finn Balor on when he expects to be back in WWE

Finn Balor relinquished the Universal Championship after just one day

On a brief appearance on Sam Roberts’ Wrestling Podcast, Finn Balor, when asked about when he expects to return to in-ring action, said that his goal is to be back at Wrestlemania. This is despite the rumours that he will be back early by the Royal Rumble.

Balor said that he has been doing six hours of rehab a day – 3 hours in the morning and 3 in the afternoon.

The good news is that for the last month or so he has been seen without his sling. He was advertised for Roadblock: End Of The Line, which led to the rumour mill buzzing, but he clarified that he was not going to be there, and was going to be with his family in Ireland for Christmas season.

It was reported that he was put on the list for advertising before he had gotten injured.

The rumors still float that Balor will return by or at the Royal Rumble, instantly becoming one of the favourites to win the event. Even if he does not return by then, it is a certainty that he will return on the road to Wrestlemania.

He is already put up on the first Wrestlemania 33 promotional poster, as can be seen below:

It should be interesting to see what plans are penciled in for Balor upon his return. There is a high chance that he will be right back in the Universal Championship picture, as he does technically have a claim in the storyline, being the champion who never lost the title.

He was positioned as the top babyface of Raw until his injury. As a result, Triple H was made to make an earlier than expected return and spur a Seth Rollins babyface turn. Now, Rollins, who was previously a heel is positioned as the top face of Raw along with Roman Reigns.

In an interview with Jim Ross a few months ago, Balor said that he felt a sense of assurance knowing how the company views him. He also said at the time that he wanted to be 100% ready and recovered before he came back to action.

Pro-wrestlers have a reputation of returning from injuries far sooner than expected. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why many are anticipating The Demon King to make a much-awaited return at the Royal Rumble this January.
