WWE News: Goldberg talks about being a fan of Brock Lesnar, his knee troubles and more

Will Goldberg find a way to escape Suplex City?

WCW Legend Bill Goldberg recently took part in a sit-down interview with Jeremy Schaap of ESPN. The two men discussed various topics ranging from Goldberg's time at WCW to his Survivor Series match with the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar.

Goldberg talked about how living in Atlanta influenced him to take up professional wrestling. He was approached to become a pro-wrestler on numerous occasions, during his time with the Falcons and mentioned that he had already been rubbing shoulders with wrestlers, prior to signing with WCW.

He further went on to say that he took football very seriously. He also added that his on-screen gimmick was actually just him being himself, and the only time he was portraying a character, was when he had to lower his voice and trash talk.

Goldberg also spoke about his days as a pro footballer and how it was his dream to make it in the NFL.

When asked about his opinion on his return to in-ring action, Goldberg said that the first promo which he gave in Denver petrified him as he does not consider himself as a 'mic guy'. He went on to explain that he was never an entertainer, and all he ever knew was how to smash people.

So the thought of cutting a promo after 12 years was intriguing to him.

Goldberg felt that when a wrestler is a 30-year-old, fans don't expect to see any in-ring mistakes, but being almost 50, he has become more vulnerable to making mistakes than he was at his peak.

Despite all that has happened between him and Brock Lesnar, Goldberg claims to be a fan of the Beast Incarnate and further went on to say that he has even attended Lesnar’s previous fights.

While it was 12 years ago (referring to his last encounter with Brock at WM XX), Goldberg says that he is one of the few people who can truly boast of overcoming the beast.

When questioned about his injury struggles, Goldberg said that he has had two knee surgeries in a matter of months. Despite this, when 2K brought him to the forefront of their latest game, it reignited in him a will to wrestle.

The Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar match will be the main event of Survivor Series.
