WWE News: John Cena says he's missing the WWE, next possible opponent unveiled

John Cena made his last WWE appearance at the No Mercy pay-per-view

For the second year in succession, WWE superstar John Cena will not be making an appearance at the Survivor Series pay-per-view. Cena is currently on a hiatus from the WWE as he is catering to his engagements outside the wrestling business.

The 15-time WWE World Champion was last seen at the No Mercy pay-per-view, where he was involved in a triple threat match for the WWE World Championship alongside Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles. The match ended in Styles pinning Cena to retain the title but the latter did not show up on the following episode of SmackDown Live.

The Cenation Leader recently took to Twitter to reveal how much he was missing the WWE and the fans. He also wished everyone luck at the Survivor Series while claiming that he was proud to be part of a life-changing opportunity, perhaps referring to the venture that he is engaged in.

Cena also did his bit in terms of hyping up the confrontation between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg at the 30th edition of the Survivor Series by posting the promotional video for the match on his Twitter page.

Although John Cena may not be appearing at the Survivor Series, it will not be long before he returns to in-ring action as per the schedule announced by the WWE for their upcoming holiday tour.

A live event on 26th December at the Madison Square Garden in New York will see Cena involved in yet another triple threat match against Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles for the World Championship, provided there are no drastic changes made to the schedule by the WWE.

There have also been a number of rumours doing the rounds about John Cena’s possible opponents at upcoming pay-per-views. One of the theories related to the Royal Rumble and rising star Baron Corbin is being looked at as a prospect to face off with the Cenation Leader.

Considering the return of The Undertaker on the 900th episode of SmackDown last week, it is also being rumoured that Cena may be The Phenom’s opponent at Wrestlemania 33. If this turns out to be true, it will be the first match between the two of them since 2003.

Irrespective of which superstars he feuds against, John Cena’s return to action is something that the entire WWE Universe will be looking forward to.
