MAJOR NXT SPOILERS: Two matches of Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic taped at Live event, Semi finals set

The Tag Team Classic will come to an end next month in Toronto!

Two matches of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic that were not filmed in the final set of tapings leading up to Takeover: Toronto were taped at NXT’s live event in San Jose.

The first of the two bouts saw Authors of Pain defeat Rich Swann and No Way Jose to advance to the semi-finals.

The second bout was supposed to be TM-61 taking on Austin Aries and Roderick Strong.

However, due to Austin Aries’ injury from the day before yesterday at the Sacremento live event, he was unable to compete, and NXT General Manager William Regal made a match between Shane Thorne and Roderick Strong instead, with the winner of the match’s team advancing to the semi-finals.

Thorne defeated Roderick Strong to help TM-61 to advance to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals are now officially set. The first semi-final will feature TM-61 up against SaniTY, while #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tomasso Ciampa) will take on the Authors of Pain. This is an extremely interesting semi-final dynamic as it has two babyfaces and two heels.

The favourites to win are perhaps the Authors Of Pain, but if #DIY manage to find a way to overcome them, then the tournament is all but theirs. SaniTY is a great bet for becoming the winners of the tournament as well.

It is highly likely that the Semi-Final matches will be the opening two matches of NXT Takeover: Toronto. Last year, the semi-finals were on the card of Takeover: Respect. Given that there are only three other matches apart from the finals, it is highly likely that the semi-finals open the show.

Will we see a babyface team winning the Tag Team Classic again? Or will it be a heel team walking away with the trophy this time around?
