Triple H took to Twitter to officially announce an NXT Takeover show for San Antonio on January 28th, 2017 – one day before the Royal Rumble. Tickets go on sale on 2nd December:
The venue is not announced yet, but it is highly likely to be at the AT&T Center, which is the home of their local basketball team San Antonio Spurs. The venue capacity goes up to 13,500, meaning that Raw will likely take place there as well. Royal Rumble 2007 took place at AT&T Center. The Undertaker had won the Rumble match that year.
With this, WWE has confirmed that from here onwards, all their big four specials will be special attractions which will be made into a weekend - Takeover special, Pay-Per-View, Raw, and perhaps even Smackdown Live. It is unsure whether for the Rumble weekend if Smackdown Live will take place in the same venue as Takeover and Raw.
It will happen that way at Wrestlemania 33 weekend, where the Hall Of Fame, Takeover, Raw, and Smackdown Live will take place at the same venue - Amway Center, Orlando. Wrestlemania 33 itself will take place at the Camping World Stadium, the same venue of Wrestlemania 24.

A major reason why the Royal Rumble is such a special attraction this year is because it is taking place in the Alamodome, which WWE last went to in 1997. WWE will be looking to get over 60,000 people for the event, breaking the record for 1997.
1997’s Royal Rumble main event saw the hometown boy Shawn Michaels defeat Sycho Sid in the main event to become the WWF Champion.
So far, Goldberg is the biggest special attraction announced for the event. Goldberg will be participating in the Royal Rumble. It is rumoured that Lesnar is penciled in for the Rumble match as well.
The Undertaker, since he announced his return on Smackdown Live 900 is also a name expected to be there in the historic Rumble, which will be its 30th edition.
Takeover specials have a reputation of exceeding the quality of the WWE Pay-Per-Views that happen the next night. It has happened constantly. Do you see Takeover beating the Royal Rumble?
