Shots fired!
Reby Hardy took to Twitter earlier today to fire shots at dysfunctional real life professional wrestling couple Alberto Del Rio and Paige who have recently gotten engaged. Hardy wrote the following on Twitter:
I'm just glad me & @MATTHARDYBRAND are no longer the biggest couple of lunatics in wrestling. So thanks, guys.
Hardy is referring to the recent troubles Del Rio and Paige have gotten themselves into with the WWE. Del Rio violated the company’s Wellness Policy and was handed a 30 day suspension as a result. Soon after Del Rio utilized the out clause in his contract and took his second leave from the company.
Interestingly enough his girlfriend Paige violated the Wellness Policy the same day and was also handed a suspension of 30 days. Paige, however, has no such out clause and is under an extremely long term contract with the WWE for the foreseeable future.
At a recent independent wrestling appearance in which Del Rio was competing, Paige took to the center of the ring to get down on her knee and propose to her boyfriend Del Rio. The former WWE and World Heavyweight Champ accepted the proposal, and the two are soon expected to get married.
The age difference between the two former champions is one of the key factors of disapproval amongst the pro wrestling community, with Paige being 24 and Del Rio being 39. With the news surfacing just days ago, Reby certainly seems to have relinquished the title of pro wrestling’s craziest couple to Del Rio and Paige.
Paige was flagged for violating another Wellness Policy test just after her suspension was lifted, and she has been handed an even longer suspension by the WWE. With rumors surfacing that Paige may, in fact have purposely failed the Wellness Policy test, her future with the WWE is certainly in doubt as of now.
