WWE News: Seth Rollins autograph signing leads to riot in Chile

Seth Rollins in Santiago, Chile

It appears that Seth Rollins is a fan favourite in Chile, as his scheduled autograph signing lead to a riot in the Ripley Costanera Center Mall. The store was absolutely ravaged. It must be noted that Rollins had already left, at the time of the incident. You can see a clip of the incident below

The WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens had some harsh words regarding the incident

Seth Rollins was said to have gotten the biggest reaction of the night when he teamed up with Sami Zayn. Kevin Owens had come out and said that Chris Jericho was not there because the people were not “worth it”, and instead introduced a returning Luke Harper.

The match ended when Seth Rollins hit the pedigree to Harper, and Rollins shook hands with Sami Zayn. The facebook group WWE Chile (#TeamWWEChile) has expressed distraught towards the incident, posting the following (translated into English):

“Fans without respect should not even call himself Chileans. We are on the covers of the main sites of the Wrestling world. The media is not going to call them "a group of fans", they will call them "the Chilean fans," Thank you, you’ve screwed us all out of the autograph signings we looked forward to and any future autograph singings and any public activities with WWE in the country with this just destroyed any hope.”

It is indeed saddening to see that a big group of fans decided to riot in the mall and loot the store, giving a bad name to the thousands and thousands of Chilean fans, especially the 15,000 strong that turned up to watch their first live event in Chile in five years.

Seth Rollins himself has not put out a statement regarding the incident, but it is safe to say he too would be quite distraught about it.

Ryan Satin of the ProWrestling Sheet said that Rollins was not able to get many signings done unsurprisingly:

"Sources tell us Rollins was only able to sign autographs and take pictures for ten minutes before the crowd excitement became too much and the former champ had to leave the Costanera Center."

There are no reports as yet as to whether anyone was injured in the incident.
