WWE News: Seth Rollins wants match against HBK

Rollins has time and again confessed that Michaels was his hero growing up as a wrestling fan

Seth Rollins, in an interview with the Gorilla Position Podcast expressed his interest in facing ‘The Showstopper’ Shawn Michaels if the latter decided to come out of retirement for one more match.

This announcement from Rollins comes in the wake of an image posted by AJ Styles a few weeks ago on Instagram. Styles teased the possibility of a match between himself and Shawn Michaels at the Royal Rumble which incidentally is being held in Michaels’ hometown of San Antonio.

Rollins made it clear that he was willing to cut the line and be the first one to take on Michaels. He was quoted as saying:

“If he’s ever coming out of retirement it better be at WrestleMania. Kudos to AJ for giving it a shot but he can take a backseat. I would like that match before he gets his hands on Shawn. A lot of people would pay good money to see Shawn and AJ.”

The former Shield member and two-time World Champion expressed his excitement to take on Styles as well. He suggested a stipulation where the winner between him and Styles got the opportunity to step into the ring with The Heartbreak Kid.

Rollins revealed that his wrestling style was inspired by Shawn’s style. He pointed out that he did not stick to a particular style such as a high flyer, brawler or technical but he would instead adapt to different styles that the match demanded and bring out the best of his opponent. On being compared to Michaels, Rollins said:

“I would never compare myself to him, but like a Shawn Michaels, a guy who can do everything, I’ve always prided myself on doing different types of matches with different opponents.”

Rollins is currently embroiled in a bitter rivalry with Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship. However, the two will set their differences aside and team up with the likes of Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman as Team RAW against their SmackDown counterparts at Survivor Series.
