It was previously reported that the WWE were looking to raid Ring Of Honor talent by the end of the year since most ROH contracts expire by then. The Young Bucks were said to be the top priority out of all the names WWE were looking at.
However, it now looks like WWE will have to wait till 2019 to have a shot at signing the Young Bucks, because according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Bucks have signed a two-year agreement with both Ring Of Honor and NJPW.

Saturday night at Final Battle, before their match against The Briscoes, commentator Kevin Kelly shed some light on the Bucks’ status with ROH, which was more or less an indication that they would be staying.
Also, after the match, Broken Matt Hardy appeared on the screen and announced that he and Brother Nero (Jeff Hardy) would be coming to ROH to prove that they were the best tag team in the galaxy. The video can be seen below:
Dave Meltzer has stated that this angle was set in motion by The Bucks themselves, and it is set to culminate sometime around Wrestlemania weekend.
There are multiple factors as to why The Bucks didn’t sign with WWE.
Firstly, they are among the select few who earn “WWE level” money working in the indies. With this comes immense creative freedom, something that is not guaranteed in WWE.
Secondly, they sell high levels of merchandise through prowrestlingtees.com, who likely give them a higher percentage of the sales than what WWE would.
Thirdly, the Young Bucks work a maximum of 70-75 dates a year, including their ROH, NJPW and even PWG appearances. They would likely have to wrestle at least a 100 more additional dates if they were to sign with the WWE.
The fact of the matter is, The Bucks are in high demand in the indies presently and are also said to be enjoying working in Japan.
It is highly possible that The Bucks will join WWE down the line someday. However, being in the position they’re currently in, they seem better off working in the indies for now. It makes sense for them from a financial standpoint as well as the scheduling standpoint.
The Young Bucks are scheduled to defend their IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championships against Roppongi Vice (Beretta and Rocky Romero) at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 11 on January 4th at the Tokyo Dome.
Two other major targets for WWE in Ring of Honor are Adam Cole and Jay Lethal. Adam Cole just dropped the ROH World Championship to Kyle O’Reilly, leading to speculation that he might be NXT-bound.
