WWE News: Update on Spirit Squad getting a full-time deal

Is the Spirit Squad going to be back full time?

The Spirit Squad returned in the build up to the Dolph Ziggler vs The Miz match at No Mercy, where they played (and still play) the roles of The Miz’s goons trying to take out Dolph Ziggler, a former member of The Spirit Squad back in the Ruthless Aggression Era. Only Kenny and Mikey returned this time around, however.

Previous reports stated that WWE didn’t intend to sign the Spirit Squad full time, and their roles would only be limited to the Ziggler-Miz feud. However, according to All Wrestling News, there have been talks within WWE of giving The Spirit Squad a full-time role within the company.

The Spirit Squad would undoubtedly be a welcome addition to the Tag Team division on Smackdown Live which many believe is quite thin compared to Raw, with the only credible heel tag team being The Usos. There has been a lot of praise for The Spirit Squad’ s role as The Miz’ s goons.

As mentioned, only Kenny and Mikey returned for this 2016 run. The remaining two members, Johnny and Mitch did not come back this time around, the reason being that Johnny has a full-time job and apparently could not miss out on work to return. Mitch, on the other hand, has become very religious and now lives in Israel.

As said above, The Spirit Squad would add be a valuable addition to the tag team division. They can be built up to be another credible heel tag team for babyface teams such as American Alpha, The Hype Bros, Rhyno & Heath Slater, etc. to take on.

Even continuing the role of being The Miz’s goons would help to add more heat to them and to The Miz as well.
