WWE News: WWE extend wishes to Kurt Angle on his birthday

Is WWE ready for another Kurt Angle run?

On December 9th, 2016; Olympic Gold Medalist and professional wrestling legend Kurt Angle turned 48 years old. Friends, fans and admirers were quick to wish him on this special occasion. However, among those who wished him was the official WWE Instagram Account. Here is a screenshot of what WWE said to the Olympian on his birthday.

Oh, it’s true... it’s damn true

Of course, the moment fans caught wind of the greeting, they were quick to speculate about a return. Kurt Angle hasn’t been a part of WWE since 2006, and a decade later, he is probably the most sought after personality, who’s yet to make a big WWE comeback.

Some rumours indicate that Angle will be a part of the 2017 Royal Rumble in the Alamodome come January, while others say that his return will be linked to the next WWE 2K Game, much like Goldberg.

Kurt Angle has repeatedly said that he would be open to the idea of a WWE comeback.

A primary concern about the man has been his health, and also the fact that he has battled addiction issues in the past. In fact, the first time Angle quit WWE to go to TNA, he felt that he was being a liability for the company.

Now, with him being far healthier than ever before, is WWE ready to welcome Angle with open arms?

Kurt Angle has teased the idea of a comeback to WWE several times and has even said that his interest was reciprocated by Triple H and Vince McMahon in the past. He has spoken about wanting to face active talent from WWE including the likes of Seth Rollins, Rusev, Cesaro and Reigns.

Angle has been full of praise for a lot of the talent in WWE currently, in particular AJ Styles whom he considers the best wrestler in the world today, and maybe an even better wrestler than Shawn Michaels (with whom Angle had a show-stealing match at Wrestlemania 21).

With declining TV ratings, the return of Kurt Angle may be imminent.

In the twilight of his career, much like Sting and Goldberg, Angle has been open to the idea of coming back for one more run, to wrestle on the big stage and be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Angle, already a member of the TNA Hall of Fame, could be counting days until his return.
