NXT News: Former TNA star makes surprise debut

Eric Young wasted little time getting the attention of NXT champion Samoa Joe.

On Thursday, former TNA mainstay Eric Young made his future official by debuting at the NXT taping at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida.

The WWE website confirmed the news.

Young won multiple championships including the world championship in TNA and was most recently the King of the Mountain champion. He lost that belt to Bram and was released from the company on March 19.

His debut Thursday came as a surprise to the crowd at Full Sail.

The move ends a period of speculation about where Young, who spent more than a dozen years in TNA, would end up since he and Roode were released from TNA on the same day. Roode appeared at NXT Takeover Dallas and signed earlier this month.

There had been plenty of talk that Young would join him, but Thursday’s events made it clear that he had. TNA wrestler Bobby Lashley issued his congratulations via Twitter.

Triple H also tweeted some backstage photos of the control room during Young’s in-ring confrontation with NXT Champion Samoa Joe.
