6 superstars who might return at Royal Rumble 2014

The Countdown

Royal Rumble

Royal Rumble is just few days away now, and WWE has announced the names of 2/3rd of this year’s participants. And just like every year, this year’s Royal Rumble will also see the return of some former superstars and legends who will go head-to-head with the current roster. These surprise entrants are expected to fill many of the remaining 10 slots.

There are some legends like The Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, Sting, Kurt Angle and The Undertaker whom we would love to see in the match, but it would be better if we remain a bit more realistic. Let’s take a look at some superstars who might return to action on Sunday.

Rob Van Dam

Rob Van Dam

The ‘One of a Kind’ wrestled for nearly 3 months last year, and is still signed with the WWE. He has been on a break since October, and by now he must have charged himself enough to record another WWE run. His return at this year’s Royal Rumble might not be as much exciting as his 2009 Royal Rumble appearance, but his presence in the match is indeed going to make it more exciting.

Jake “the Snake” Roberts

Jake Roberts

Jake “the Snake” Roberts

Jake Roberts made an appearance in the WWE after many years on the Old School edition of Raw, few weeks ago. Last year, Roberts returned to fitness, thanks to DDP Yoga, and this month he expressed his desire to be in the ring one more time. WWE might make his wish come true at Royal Rumble.

Sheamus

Sheamus

The 2012 Royal Rumble winner, Sheamus has been nursing some injuries since July, thanks to last year’s Money in the Bank. Last month, in an interview with WWE.com, he talked about returning to the WWE soon and Royal Rumble might be the right stage for his return, but the question is will he return as a face or a heel.

Evan Bourne

Evan Bourne

Evan Bourne

The former WWE Tag Team Champion made just one appearance since his March 2012 car accident, and that appearance was on NXT last year. There has been some news about his return this month since he is back to full fitness. Luckily, we might see a shooting star press on Sunday.

Christian

Christian

We haven’t seen Christian wrestle for over 4 months, but we might see him back in action at Royal Rumble. His case is the same as that of Bourne, he has also regained his fitness this month, and WWE are about to bring him back to the ring. The crowd would also love to see an experienced wrestler like Christian in the match. So will we see Christian return at Royal Rumble? Only time will tell.

Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho

Last month, Jericho made it clear via Twitter that he won’t be a part of this year’s Royal Rumble, but we really shouldn’t take him by his words, as he has always been a surprise element in the WWE. Plus, he has been a part of two Rumble returns for past two consecutive years. And we would definitely want to see him make it 3 this Sunday.

These are some probable names for this year’s Royal Rumble, but we should expect some more legends to make a surprise entry in the match.
