WWE Rumours: As of today, Women are not going on last

Not the real main event?

Last week, Raw General Manager Mick Foley stated that Sasha Banks vs Charlotte would be the main event of Hell In A Cell. However, less than 24 hours later, he retracted the statement saying that it wasn’t confirmed what the order of the match was, but to “him” it was the main event.

Presumably, to save face, WWE started advertising Hell In A Cell as having a “Triple Main Event”. This leaves room for them to change the order while still calling the women’s match the main event, whether they go on last or not.

According to Bryan Alvarez on the Wrestling Observer Radio, as of today, the women are not going to be going on last. This would likely mean that the Universal Championship match between Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins will be the match ending the show.

It was reported over the past couple of days that everyone including Triple H is pushing to have the women main event the show, but Vince McMahon is refusing to budge, primarily because they haven’t advertised or hyped the fact that the women are main eventing enough.

For the women to main event, it looks like WWE will have to make it a selling point.

Sasha Banks is no stranger to main eventing. Last year in early October, she and Bayley main evented NXT Takeover: Respect in a 30-minute Iron Man match which garnered critical acclaim for the intensity and storytelling. That was The Boss’ s swan song in NXT.

Apparently, according to the same source(WOR), the thought backstage is that the women will either go on first or go on last. The thought behind the former is that if it opens the show then fans won’t walk out early.

The two main concerns are that either the fans will walk out after the Women’s Hell In A Cell match, or the fans will hijack the show if it is not made to be the main event.

Either way, the “Triple Main Event” tag as mentioned, will definitely be used to justify the order of the card, and primarily justifying the Women not going on last while still being able to call them “the main event”

Sasha and Charlotte both main evented the October 3rd edition of Raw which saw The Boss beat Charlotte once more to be crowned a two-time Raw Women’s Champion.

Do you feel the women should go on last?
