Charlotte defended her WWE Raw Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks in the first women’s main-event of Raw since 2004. The match itself was spectacular and went back and forth with both women bringing everything they had. The men on the roster should take notice after this match because the women’s revolution is well and truly underway. The crowd was hot for the main-event and the match got the loudest reaction of the night.
There were several amazing spots and sequences in the match with Charlotte using her strength and size to her advantage while Sasha tried to use her speed to get the advantage. Sasha went into the match with a back injury and Charlotte targeted it for much of the match. She even pulled off an incredible Corkscrew Moonsault from the top rope to the outside as the crowd held their breath. Sasha and Charlotte went back and forth but just as it looked like Charlotte had Sasha beat, Banks hit back with a Hurracanrana which she converted into a Banks Statement, eventually forcing the champion to tap out.
Charlotte beat Sasha at SummerSlam in August with Sasha going on a break to heal up her niggling back injury. After being unsuccessful during the triple threat at Clash of Champions, Sasha finally won her coveted title back tonight after finally receiving her 1v1 rematch. Bayley inadvertently helped Sasha by taking Dana Brooke out before the match backstage and is certain to challenge Sasha in the near future.
This is one of the best women’s matches we’ve seen all year and almost certainly matched, if not topped, Sasha and Charlotte’s battles earlier this year. Even though Sasha left as the winner, Charlotte left us awestruck with her incredible performance. She’s definitely a chip off the old block.
