Shawn Michaels reveals he wanted to join WCW, how Vince convinced him to stay

Shawn Michaels spoke to JR about his previous thoughts of going to WCW

In the recent episode of ‘The Ross report’, Jim Ross’ podcast, Shawn Michaels appeared to promote his upcoming book and he spoke about his wrestling career. One interesting topic brought to the fore by Michaels was his intentions to go to WCW.

“I thought about it, but there’s two things. I went to Vince and said ‘Let me go. I’m miserable here, I wanna go down and be with my buddies’. He just said no. I’m under contract under WWE, so I couldn’t. But there was a time I wanna go.”, Michaels explained to JR.

Michaels also mentioned that Vince told him to look at the bigger picture and look at how others were being used. He also told Michaels he wouldn’t have been able to use his in-ring work as liberally in WCW as he did in WWE.

“He said, ‘You’re a creative guy. Once you get past being angry and it comes to working, you want to do things your way. They won’t let you do that down there, and that’s going to kill you. They’ll kill the one thing about this business you enjoy.’ I think he had some validity there.”, Michaels claimed.

Michaels told that he agreed with Vince as time went on.
