SK WWE Power Rankings: 31 October, 2016

Charlotte makes a huge jump in the rankings

Hell in a Cell will be remembered for a lot of things; the memorable matches, the title change and more. As far as the Power Rankings are concerned, however, it was all about which superstar got the better momentum and which superstar struggled.

The names from SmackDown had the Sunday off due to Hell in a Cell being a Brand specific pay-per-view, while the superstars of Raw saw this as a chance to rise above. And due to this factor, this week’s Power Rankings saw a lot of ups and downs. Here is a look at how the rankings shaped up ahead of the upcoming week of WWE programming.

#10 Dean Ambrose (-1)

Ambrose had a setback on SmackDown

Dean Ambrose had the chance to become the new number one contender for the WWE Championship this week on SmackDown. Unfortunately, due to James Ellsworth, Dean lost his chance. It was an unexpected turn to the whole storyline and the fact that no one saw it coming, made it look good.

The loss against AJ Styles, even though it was via disqualification, costs Ambrose his footing in the Power Rankings. He drops one place down to tenth, and the Lunatic Fringe would be eager to bounce back and put his name back into the title scene, even if it is going to be a hard path for him.

#9 Goldberg (-1)

Set to return this week

Goldberg manages to keep his place in the Power Rankings, despite being absent the past week. Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman filled in the gap and took the feud forward in Goldberg’s absence and WWE went on to make the match official for Survivor Series as well.

However, the inactivity forces him down to ninth in the rankings compare to his eighth position last week.

He will be back in action this week on the Halloween special edition of Monday Night Raw, and it will present Goldberg with another opportunity to build up the feud and also, make an improvement in the Power Rankings.

#8 Brian Kendrick (NR)

A deserving win

Brian Kendrick makes an entry into the Power Rankings after a long time, thanks to his win over TJ Perkins at Hell in a Cell. Kendrick was crowned the new Cruiserweight champion at the show, and it marks the start of a promising title reign.

Kendrick is one of the most impressive characters in the entire WWE roster, and now that he has the gold around his waist, going up seems to be the only option. Perkins, as the challenger to Kendrick, is bound to give the fans a memorable storyline and the first step will be taken this week on Raw.

#7 Dolph Ziggler (-1)

Ziggler stays in the rankings

The reigning Intercontinental Champion did not have any major match this week on SmackDown. Furthermore, as Raw superstars had the edge over their SmackDown counterparts, due to Hell in a Cell, Ziggler drops down one place in the rankings to seventh.

The feud with Miz is clearly the ongoing storyline for the Showoff, and new chapters could be opened on the latest episode of SmackDown.

Considering the history that Ziggler has on Survivor Series, he would probably have a say on the traditional elimination matches as well. This makes the short-term future of Ziggler interesting and the possibility of him rising in the Power Rankings high.

#6 Seth Rollins (-1)

Another setback for WWE

Seth Rollins experienced a roller coaster of a week, this time around. He opened the week on a high note, after defeating both the WWE Universal champion, Kevin Owens, and his best friend Chris Jericho, in a triple threat match on Raw.

This seemed like a good momentum builder for the architect, who went into Hell in a Cell to challenge Owens for the title.

However, due to the joint forces of Owens and Jericho, Rollins failed to get his hands on the gold. This reflects on his place in the Power Rankings as well as he drops down one place, but the story of Rollins and Owens is far from over.

#5 Sasha Banks (-1)

A bad night for Sasha

Sasha Banks went into Hell in a Cell as the Raw Women’s champion and unfortunately when the show ended; the strap was no longer around her waist.

Her match with Charlotte was hard fought, and Sasha is bound to feel the effects of the same for the coming weeks. However, losing the title wasn’t a great thing for her as she had only won it some time back.

Sasha’s inability to win matches at major pay-per-view events continues and intentionally or not, such a booking from WWE hurts her. Despite the title drop, it was a strong performance from Sasha, and she only drops one place.

#4 Charlotte (+3)

And New

The Hell in a Cell main event meant so much to Charlotte, and this fact was evident throughout the match. The way Charlotte carried herself was noteworthy. And the win, in the end, proved to be a cherry on the top.

Charlotte has won the WWE Raw Women’s Championship on three occasions now, and though this stat reflects on inconsistent bookings from WWE, it’s safe to say that Charlotte earned each and every bit of this.

The queen kick-started another reign on Sunday Night, and with Survivor Series coming up, WWE should put Charlotte under another special limelight, where she could steal the show as always.

#3 AJ Styles (NC)

Style dashed the hopes of Ambrose on SmackDown

This week was all about Hell in a Cell, and this forced the SmackDown superstars to take a backseat. AJ Styles was no different. The WWE Champion faced off against Dean Ambrose on Tuesday night, and only managed to win the match thanks to a disqualification.

He got knocked out by James Ellsworth, but on the bright side, Styles successfully managed to keep Ambrose away from the gold.

With no clear contender for his title present at the moment, Styles would enter into the next week of WWE programming strongly. As far as his Power Rankings are concerned, he keeps his position thanks to the win.

#2 Kevin Owens (NC)

Retained with help from his best friend

Kevin Owens is touted to be the face of Monday Night Raw, but the booking that WWE gives him suggests an entirely different story. Owens went in the mid card of Hell in a Cell, and as champion, though he was expected to come out second, Owens came out first.

To make matters worse, Owens needed plenty of help from Jericho to win the match.

The last part was a classic heel tactic, so complaining about the same would be pointless although it had an effect on the overall booking. With the win, Owens keeps his place, but the manner of his victory prevents him from making progress.

#1 Roman Reigns (NC)

Heading for the Universal title next?

Hell in a Cell proved to be another successful outing for the Samoan Superman. He defended the United States Championship against Rusev inside the cell, and after a brutal match, Reigns came out victorious. The strong run of Roman continued, thanks to this win and he shows no signs of slowing down.

The win that he got when compared to Kevin Owens was more impressive, and this is why Reigns still features on top of the list.

He also went on to mention that he would love to do what Seth Rollins couldn’t, during Raw Talk hinting that he could be moving into the WWE Universal Championship scene now.
