WWE News: The Miz retains Intercontinental Championship over Dolph Ziggler

The Hollywood A-Lister prevailed over The Showoff

The Miz defeated Dolph Ziggler to retain the Intercontinental Championship in an instant classic, putting an end to arguably the rivalry of the year.

The two multiple time Intercontinental Champions went at it for 25 minutes, with The Miz once again taunting Smackdown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan, teasing a feud which will likely not have any physical payoff whatsoever. The Miz and Ziggler had yet another classic. The two started feuding shortly after Summerslam, with Ziggler even putting his career on the line for a championship match at No Mercy. The Showoff won the title then, to a tremendous babyface reaction. However, he dropped it right back to The Miz just a month later on Smackdown Live 900.

The final chapter of the epic rivalry is finished, so it will be interesting to see what is next for both competitors. There was lot of speculation on a possibility of Sami Zayn being traded to the blue brand and challenging The Miz, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Or at least not just yet.

The Miz won after hitting a low blow on Ziggler between two ladders. He then cut a promo after the match dedicating his victory to his arch rival, Daniel Bryan
