Wade Barrett to quit WWE after his current contract expires

End of the road for the relegated king?

After Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella, now it’s the turn of WWE star Wade Barrett, who has revealed that he is going to quit the company when his contract expires this summer.

According to the Pro Wrestling Sheet, the former WWE Intercontinental Champion Barrett won’t sign a new contract with the company when his current deal expires in a few months. Sources also say that Barrett recently informed WWE officials about his decision and the reason for Barett leaving is because the wrestler no longer enjoys what he’s doing in the company.

Barrett is currently a member of League of Nations and due to his neck injury, he is making a TV appearance sans wrestling. Barrett was signed by WWE in 2007 and came into the main roster in 2010 through NXT after winning the competition.

His first gimmick in the company was the leader of Nexus and followed with by leading a group called Coore. Later, he had some gimmicks which include Barrett Barrage, Bad News Barett, King Barrett and now the League of Nations member.

In between, Barrett held the Intercontinental championship five times but was never able to transition into the main event scene. Barrett’s deal reportedly expires in June and as of now, it’s unclear what he’ll be doing post-WWE.
